Looks like my homerism, do or don’t, bites me in the ass.
Last week I start Braylon Edwards (4ish points) vs Randy Moss (20+).
So I decide not to be a homer again, and switched the matchup, and Braylon puts up 20+ this week.
I talk up about how I think Jamal Lewis is in for a comeback this year due to a better O-line/offense and injury recovery, but then I start MJD (4 points) over him (roughly 28 points)
At least I started Winslow (18 points)
So… next week I’ll consider being a homer again, and then I’ll fail because of it. Then I’ll decide… nah, stop with the homer stuff and Jamal will set a new NFL rushing record.
Okay, give me Addai and they’ll be benched for the year.
I’ve always been amused by people who thought (seriously, I mean, not you of course) that when they wear their lucky socks, or when they don’t watch the game, or whatever, their team will win. Aside from being silly on the face of it - supernatural socks and all that - these people have to think that they’re so important that something that affects millions of people in some way or another is reliant on their obscure superstition - and not only that, but the thousands of other people who thought it was up to their superstitions are wrong
Well I’ve done my part in defeating LOUNE. Next up is… Ellis Dee. Hmmmmmm…
I put up a pretty good 124 points despite sitting Braylon (26.6) and Lewis (27.5). Optimal lineup ignoring McNabb would’ve given me 165.7. I’m glad I overspent a bit on Winslow since I wasn’t able to snag him in my other league.
Where the hell have Reggie Bush and Maurice Jones-Drew been so far this season? On the plus side, Adrian Peterson, Jamal Lewis, and Marshawn Lynch have looked pretty good despite by nominal #1 and #2 sucking.
Looks like there are no meaningful Monday night matchups tonight.
I was right on all my predictions of who wins. I want a cookie.

Oh, by the way, why LOUNE was able to add Norwood today was that Omni released him Saturday and it became part of the yahoo waiver system. People were then able to put in waiver claims on Saturday through 2 days later (Monday) as part of the yahoo waiver system. For all I know, LOUNE made the waiver claim on Saturday and it gave him the player today when the waiver period ended.
Since he was cut, and already on waivers, before he would’ve gone on our waiver system (Sunday at kickoff), what LOUNE did was valid. It does push him to the end of the waiver list automatically. I didn’t forsee this situation coming up, but it seems reasonable to me that a player already on the yahoo waiver system at their time of kickoff should be subject to the normal waiver system rather than our kickoff-Wednesday waiver system.
Any questions, comments or objections in regards to that?
I have some tough decisions to make at QB this week. In this league - Kitna vs McNabb and in the other Kitna vs Young (against NO). Not sure where to go with either decision… gotta research some pass defenses I think.
I like my receivers this week - Steve Smith and Randy Moss are pretty much locks. I need to pick one more out of Braylon Edwards vs Oak, Boldin vs STDville, and Calvin Johnson vs the Eagles. I’m leaning towards Boldin because Samari Rolle sucks and teams know that and will plan to exploit him, but I think all 3 can have a big day.
RB is even tougher. 2 of Peterson (KC), Jamal Lewis (Oak), MJD (Den), Bush (Ten), Williams (Atl), and Lynch (NE) - the only matchup I don’t really like is Lynch at NE. The others all have a case for them - Chester Taylor is “limited”, Lewis won’t run for 200+, but 100/1 is not at all unlikely against Oakland, LaMont Jordan just put up 175 against Denver so MJD can run against them, and Williams isn’t getting many carries, but it is Atlanta… I’m leaning towards Peterson and Lewis.
You think you’ve got issues? I’ve got an underperforming Hines Ward just waiting to be ousted by Antwaan Randel El going against the terrible Giants pass D. Or, on the other hand ,do I finally let Cedric into my lineup against the Dallas D, rather than see Larry J get squatinisky against yet another good run defense in Minnesota? Plus both of my mediocre defenses are playing high-octane offenses… I need a Rolaid.
NO has been getting ripped up vs the pass. 288/3/0 for Manning and 243/2/0 for Garcia in 16 attempts. Young had a very respectable 17 points last week against a better defense. And I’m not sure NO has the Athletes on the D-line to stop him from running.
Kitna has been pretty productive and Detroit passes like crazy. And Lito Sheppard is out for the Eagles…
Gah. They both have huge potential.
McNabb is due to explode sometime too…agh.
I think I’m going to settle for Young over Kitna, and Kitna over McNabb.
I’ll give you some insight on the Lions. Their secondary is atrocious, but it’s been masked up because of the good defensive line play. They’re getting no pressure on McNabb and can’t stop the run, ergo, the secondary is getting torched.
That secondary has scared me ever since they traded Bly away. They’ve almost literally got nothing out there.
Really, starting McNabb or Kitna, you’re happy either way. The second half should be a different game. It CAN’T keep going like this.
Game over. 4th and 3 relatively deep in Eagles’ territory and they went for a field goal and missed it.
It’s hard enough getting 21 points in a game, let alone 21 in a half (and holding the opposition to none). They needed the points, they would have given the ball up on the same spot if they didn’t convert, and the average offensive play runs for more than 3 yards.

I’m off to a pretty solid start considering how badly I thought I’d do at first, and how badly my most expensive players (Bush, MJD) have done. Although Bush had a decent week this week and I didn’t start him.
Gah, I really want to file a waiver claim, but I seriously can’t drop anyone. My most droppable player is probably Calvin Johnson, and he’s having a fine season.
Edit: Aha, possible solution. Anyone want to sell low on an elite but dissapointing back like LJ/SJ/LT? Pick some players of mine you want and send a 2 or 3 for one trade offer.
