Hakeem Nicks! It’s up to you to give me my second 4-0 week!
Sonofabitch.
All I need is for Nicks to NOT be a favored option tonight, and I stand a chance to eke out my first win. Methinks I’m boned.
(Fingers crossed for some Davone Bess love tomorrow…)
It’s not helping my case when Tynes is missing chip shots.
FFS they took a 14 yard net gain on a punt rather than letting Tynes kick it. I need a new kicker.
So Bess needs 10.48 points for Only Mostly Dead to beat me, otherwise I have my second 4-0 (across all SDMB leagues) week.
The Gusterrhoids can very much beat No Use For A Name 2, otherwise he will retain #1 in the league. He needs Gostkowski to make up a 5 point gap and beat Brandon Tate and the NE defense - very possible for the NE defense to have a low or negative score.
CMFD (who apparently does not own a defense) needs 11 points+whatever Ricky Williams scores out of Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker to beat unrelated siblings.
Varlos needs 19 points plus whatever Randy Moss scores out of Tom Brady, Ronnie Brown, and the Miami defense.
Court Jesters put up a pretty respectable score and only lost to Hamlet by 10 points. He actually outscored (pending active players tomorrow) 10 people in our league! And he didn’t even draft anyone
I’m kinda rooting for him to get some wins now.
I think Bess has roughly a 60/40 chance of putting up the points. He’s got a high floor and he’s good against New England.
Thank Og, winless no longer!
There’s still tome for him to fumble 4 times.
God fucking damnit. I lost by 2.68 points. Miami’s Defense scored -3. I would’ve won if I’d left that roster spot empty.
Following up preseason discussion of whether or not my team could match up to Varlos, I have a huge 0.17 point lead over him in total scoring so far this year.

So last week I pick up Ryan Torain for a modest $7, because he’s a Shanahan project and who knows about Portis’ health. But then during the week I find out I don’t have enough WRs to field 3, so I decide to drop Torain to pick up Buster Davis, who ended up scoring 0 anyway. I started Bernard Scott in my flex who didn’t do much. Why did I keep Scott over Torain? I really don’t know - higher upside I guess, bigger lottery ticket.
So the games are played and Portis gets injured, and Torain looks good, making him look even more valuable. So I spend another $31 to pick up Torain again. So after all that, I spent an unnecesary $31 and if I’d have just played Torain I’d be undefeated instead of 3-1. And… even after all that… I’m not even sure I can start him anyway since I have Jamal Charles, Jahvid Best, and Johnathan Stewart.
I want to move one of those RBs for a TE or WR. Send me offers.
I’m (Phoenix Redbirds) in need of a QB for this week. $52 for Kolb beat me out for him. I guess there is a chance Derek Anderson starts this week, but I think the Cardinals are going to start Max Hall.
Trade to announce. Sizzurp Sippers gives up Ron Gronkowski and Max Hall and Phoenix Redbirds gives up Louis Murphy and Michael Jenkins.
Reminder, I’m working to shed a running back this week. I’ve got Jahvid Best, Jamal Charles, Charles Stewart, and Ryan Torain. I’m looking for upgrades at TE and WR.
Question: are we allowing pre-arranged trade-backs? My bid for Kolb got bested and now I’m left w/o a QB this weekend with the Patriots on bye. So, can I make a deal that nets me someone’s backup QB for this week, then we immediately trade back after (the second part being enforceable)?
ETA: OTOH, I’m facing Court Jesters, so maybe I should just go all single-wing and leave the QB slot empty to give him a fighting chance.
We discussed this last year actually and the consensus was that we shouldn’t allow it. Having a backup QB is an investment/strategy decision you have to weigh against your other options, and allowing trade-backs just eliminates that. Plus, it just doesn’t quite feel right to me.
I actually drafted a backup QB, but Trent Edwards turned out not to be a safe investment. Oh well. I’m probably still a favorite.
Haha, I can actually get up to 126.58 if I start no defense instead of the Indy defense, since they scored -6.
Fuck.
Had I played Arizona’s D, projected at less than 1 point, I’d have gotten 24 and been golden. Instead I take the seemingly safer bet of Denver over a struggling Baltimore offense, and they give me -5. NEGATIVE 5.
Any loss would sting here, losing by less than 5 will just be a cruel joke.
Looks like i might actually get a win this week, despite the fact that Matt Schaub provided a grand total of 3.5 points today.
Good production from Cedric Benson, and a huge day for Malcolm Floyd were the keys this week. And Robert Meachem finally got some attention from Drew Brees.
