Yeah, I"m basically blowing up my team. I just don’t see anyway I could win with the team I had.
I just now realized that you made the trade involving Devery Henderson well before gametime started, and I was saying that I’d fast track trades before gameday. I forgot Thursday was a gameday. So Devery Henderson should’ve rightly been on your roster. I can retroactively make this happen - I assume with your dearth of WR talent Devery would’ve made one of the WR spots, and it doesn’t even remove points from the other team because he benched Henderson anyway.
Acceptable to everyone?
Henderson would have been in a starting slot. However, I want to also be fair to everyone else.
Unbiased observer here, if that helps any. I think he should get the Henderson start.
I have no problem with the Henderson start. Of course I’m not playing him, so …
Yeah, that was pretty much my response.
Although, even if i were playing against him, i think i’d still think that allowing Henderson would be fair, because SenorBeef did say earlier that he would try to get the trades completed before game-time.
I totally think giving him the Henderson start is fine - it’s what I’d have wanted if I had made that trade.
And it appears I’m the guy playing him. What, I have to put up with this AND I don’t get a scheduled game against Captain Autodraft?!? [Cartman]I hate you guys…[/Cartman]
I hope Finley blows up for 2 TDs and 120 yards.
Court Jesters only picked up one waiver (and for $1) after the draft was concluded. Which is strange, since there were some players who were at least getting playing time that he could’ve added to his roster. I guess maybe he got outbid since there were some decent $12-26 bids on some players. But I was hoping he was gonna use that $250 in FAAB money to start building a team.
Besides the idea of being able to use FAAB dollars in trades, is there anything we can do to try to make his team competitive? I guess we may implement the FAAB in trade this year if no one objects.
I put Henderson on Phoenix’s starting roster. I would’ve done that before the game, except it didn’t occur to me to check for trades that involved players in the Thursday night game. It’s fixed.
In the future, if you think I might not get around to pushing through the trade in time or something, try to post your intentions as to who you start so there’s no ambiguity, I can always go back and fix it later.
He’s definitely got a good team, but I think I stack up fairly well against it. Both before the trade but especially after:
SenorBeef – VarlosZ
Philip Rivers – Tom Brady
Dwayne Bowe – Roddy White
Hakeem Nicks – Jabar Gaffney
Nate Burleson – Eddie Royal
Jamal Charles – Knowshon Moreno
Johnathan Stewart – Joseph Addai
Tony Scheffler – Kevin Boss
Jahvid Best – Ronnie Brown
Nick Folk – David Buehler
Tennessee – Miami
Bench
Vince Young, Bernard Scott, Javon Ringer, James Jones, Bo Scaife
vs
Anthony Dixon, Greg Camarillo, Chansi Stuckey, Trent Edwards, Brandon Jackson
He has a somewhat better QB1 and WR1, worse WR2 and WR3, worse RBs across the board, equal garbage at TE, and I think my bench has a little more upside but they’re kind of similar. I wouldn’t surprised to see us both finish top 3 in scoring at the end of the year.
This is the order I predict the teams will finish in along with some commentary. This obviously applies to how many points teams score rather than their actual seeded finish, since that can depend on divisions and how favorable their matchups were against other owners.
Some of the picks were put in a different order to organize it a bit (QB on top, followed by clump of starting WRs/RBs, kicker/DEF after that). I copy/pasted players involved in trades, so the values for every team may not add up to $200.
1.Varlos’ Zzzzzzz (VarlosZ)
2. (38) Tom Brady (NE - QB) $43
- (13) Knowshon Moreno (Den - RB) $29
- (58) Joseph Addai (Ind - RB) $31
- (92) Ronnie Brown (Mia - RB) $28
- (44) Roddy White (Atl - WR) $38
- (146) Jabar Gaffney (Den - WR) $7
- (161) Eddie Royal (Den - WR) $10
- (200) Kevin Boss (NYG - TE) $2
- (204) Anthony Dixon (SF - RB) $3
- (207) Miami (Mia - DEF) $2
- (223) Greg Camarillo (Min - WR) $2
- (236) Chansi Stuckey (Cle - WR) $1
- (240) David Buehler (Dal - K) $2
- (251) Trent Edwards (Buf - QB) $1
- (263) Brandon Jackson (GB - RB) $1
I’ll reign in my ego a tiny bit by giving away the #1 slot to Varlos. I think our teams are very close but he might edge me out a bit. Good at every position but TE, making a team this wel rounded in a 20 man league is a pretty big feat. Ronnie Brown will be good, White is about as consistent as you get, Brady should have a good year, Dixon is one of the laegue’s best lottery tickets, Gafney and Camarillo are great values - there’s nothing I dislike about this team except the weakness at TE - and even he should do alright. Good value throughout.
2.Exploding Pancakes (SenorBeef)
97. Philip Rivers (SD - QB) $34
2. (16) Jonathan Stewart (Car - RB) $29
3. (30) Jamaal Charles (KC - RB) $46
4. (51) Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR) $24
5. (61) Jahvid Best (Det - RB) $36
6. (71) Hakeem Nicks (NYG - WR) $21
7. (164) Nate Burleson (Det - WR) $2
8. (165) Vince Young (Ten - QB) $4
10. (194) Tennessee (Ten - DEF) $2
11. (245) Bernard Scott (Cin - RB) $2
12. (255) Nick Folk (NYJ - K) $1
13. (267) Bo Scaife (Ten - TE) $1
14. (277) Javon Ringer (Ten - RB) $1
15. (285) James Jones (GB - WR) $1
283. Tony Scheffler (Det - TE) $1
I think this team is just as well rounded as Varlos’. If Thomas Jones only steals 30% of the carries and half the touchdowns, I think I may have the league-best RB situation. And my WRs are among the top 5 - Bowe is going to be very good this year, if Nicks just continues on the same pace as last year he’ll be a good one, and even Burleson should snag 700/5. My bench is full of high upside lottery tickets. Philip Rivers is due for a regression but still should be top 7 at the worst. Like Varlos, TE is weak, but otherwise a very strong team.
3.Sizzurp Sippers (Gray Ghost)
3. (36) Brett Favre (Min - QB) $15
- (19) DeAngelo Williams (Car - RB) $47
- (26) Pierre Thomas (NO - RB) $47
- (80) DeSean Jackson (Phi - WR) $31
- (103) Hines Ward (Pit - WR) $15
- (118) Santana Moss (Was - WR) $14
- (111) Tony Gonzalez (Atl - TE) $11
- (131) Devin Thomas (Was - WR) $5
- (138) Heath Miller (Pit - TE) $6
- (162) San Diego (SD - DEF) $4
- (210) Jay Feely (Ari - K) $1
- (229) Toby Gerhart (Min - RB) $1
- (272) Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE) $1
- (282) Torry Holt (NE - WR) $1
- (288) Justin Gage (Ten - WR) $1
This team could be a powerhouse but utterly relies on the health and good play of Favre. If Favre were to match even 80% of his performance last year, this team is going to steamroll some people. But between Rice and Favre’s injuries, I’m not sure that’s going to be the case. This is a team that absolutely needs a decent backup QB and doesn’t have one. You may be scrambling to make a trade for one mid-season. But I like Williams and Thomas a lot. Jackson and Ward are probably in for a regression, but I like Moss under McNabb to rise up to WR2 type status. If you’d have snagged a competant backup QB like Kyle Orton, I’d put this team up with Varlos and me.
4.Hamlets Out of Ideas (Hamlet)
6. (128) Carson Palmer (Cin - QB) $10
- (29) Michael Turner (Atl - RB) $60
- (49) Justin Forsett (Sea - RB) $22
- (78) Matt Forte (Chi - RB) $27
- (81) Greg Jennings (GB - WR) $35
- (120) Legedu Naanee (SD - WR) $8
- (149) Dustin Keller (NYJ - TE) $5
- (156) Tim Hightower (Ari - RB) $9
- (193) Green Bay (GB - DEF) $2
- (197) Sidney Rice (Min - WR) $7
- (203) Marshawn Lynch (Buf - RB) $2
- (208) Jermaine Gresham (Cin - TE) $2
- (209) Matt Moore (Car - QB) $4
- (219) Laurent Robinson (StL - WR) $4
- (228) Robbie Gould (Chi - K) $2
This team is sitting pretty at RB. Turner and Forte are going to rebound this year - probably not as good as they were in 08, but much better than last year. Palmer is a steal at $10 - I don’t like him to finish top 10, but he’ll put up solid points. And you still managed to have some good upside at receiver - I’m high on Jennings finishing top 5 this year, I like Naanee’s ceiling. Rice may be good by the time the fantasy playoffs roll around. Robinson may be good on account of having no one else in St. Louis. With Hightower (may score 40% of Ari’s fantasy points) and Lynch (no one knows what’s up in Buffalo), you may even be able to trade a RB to buff up your WR corps a bit.
5.]The Brute Squad (Only Mostly Dead)
4. (55) Tony Romo (Dal - QB) $32
- (8) Ryan Mathews (SD - RB) $50
- (43) Ryan Grant (GB - RB) $43
- (62) Lee Evans (Buf - WR) $12
- (79) Braylon Edwards (NYJ - WR) $16
- (88) Vincent Jackson (SD - WR) $11
- (90) Kenny Britt (Ten - WR) $10
- (110) Kellen Winslow (TB - TE) $9
- (202) Derrick Ward (Hou - RB) $1
- (206) Mark Sanchez (NYJ - QB) $3
- (221) Fred Davis (Was - TE) $1
- (238) Arizona (Ari - DEF) $1
- (253) Davone Bess (Mia - WR) $1
- (265) Denver (Den - DEF) $1
- (12) Kris Brown (Hou - K) $6
Matthews is in the best situaton a rookie can be in, and Grant never gets credit for having a high floor, that’s a solid duo. I like Romo this year, he has a shot at being top 3. Evans, Edwards, Jackson, and Britt are the all question mark squad at WR, but you may be able to make something decent out of them. I like Bess as a flex starter, lots of recs and some punt return yards. You have no depth at RB and that may end up being a problem.-
6.Return of Ryan Leaf (Mhendo)
6. (76) Matt Schaub (Hou - QB) $35
- (31) Cedric Benson (Cin - RB) $40
- (42) Reggie Wayne (Ind - WR) $40
- (50) Robert Meachem (NO - WR) $22
- (72) Fred Jackson (Buf - RB) $16
- (74) Malcom Floyd (SD - WR) $19
- (87) Ryan Longwell (Min - K) $4
- (112) Fred Taylor (NE - RB) $7
- (117) Greg Olsen (Chi - TE) $6
- (153) Philadelphia (Phi - DEF) $5
- (173) Washington (Was - DEF) $1
- (185) Joe Nedney (SF - K) $2
- (247) Sammy Morris (NE - RB) $1
- (261) Mike Bell (Phi - RB) $1
- (273) Earl Bennett (Chi - WR) $1
This team is full of players who produced last year who I think are due to regress somewhat. Something will happen to Benson. Schaub will be good, but not 4800 yards good like last year. Everyone expects Wayne to start dropping off this year although I still expect 1200/8 out of him. Meachem might be a one year wonder in NO - like Lance Moore the year before, anyone can emerge and then fall away again in that system. Fred Jackson has been productive, but he’s now in a three way battle with a promising rookie.
Still, pretty solid all around and not all those players will regress.
7.Curry Porkrinds (tds1273)
- (24) Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB) $60
- (56) Steve Smith (NYG - WR) $30
- (66) Jerome Harrison (Cle - RB) $27
- (86) Antonio Gates (SD - TE) $26
- (99) T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Bal - WR) $15
- (115) Darren McFadden (Oak - RB) $14
- (116) Thomas Jones (KC - RB) $9
- (126) Zach Miller (Oak - TE) $12
- (205) Chaz Schilens (Oak - WR) $1
- (224) Deion Branch (Sea - WR) $1
- (241) Charlie Whitehurst (Sea - QB) $1
- (256) Josh Freeman (TB - QB) $1
- (268) Deon Butler (Sea - WR) $1
- (278) Seattle (Sea - DEF) $1
- (286) Oakland (Oak - DEF) $1
I have this team ranked fairly highly mostly because I’m in love with Rodgers and Harrison. There’s no reason Harrison can’t put up 1300/10 or better unless they decide he’s doing too well and send him to the inactive list for 4 games - that’s been the pattern with him so far. But out of sheer desperation they may have to keep feeding him the ball as much as for whatever mysterious reason the coaches won’t want to.
Rodgers is going to #1 again, or at least top 3 in QBs. You overpaid, but it’s nice to have that position solidly locked.
Gates will be a bigger part of the SD passing offense and he’s going to be good this year. Zach Miller is underrated and will do well under Jason Campbell - you may actually consider going double tight end and use him in your flex spot.
Thomas Jones may actually be a solid enough RB2 or flex start in this league because I expect him to score a good share of TDs and get a decent amount of yards. He’s not totally washed up. McFadden was looking better when it seemed like Bush would be out for 6 weeks, but he may be coming back in game 1 or 2. I don’t think this team has enough upside to rank any higher than this, but you’ve got a decently high floor.
8.CMFD (Charles, Non-SDMB)
9. (139) Alex Smith (SF - QB) $6
10. (148) Jason Campbell (Oak - QB) $6
- (10) Miles Austin (Dal - WR) $41
- (33) Percy Harvin (Min - WR) $22
- (35) Wes Welker (NE - WR) $29
- (54) Reggie Bush (NO - RB) $22
- (69) Felix Jones (Dal - RB) $25
- (172) Carnell Williams (TB - RB) $10
- (85) Brent Celek (Phi - TE) $14
- (132) Sebastian Janikowski (Oak - K) $1
- (133) Dallas (Dal - DEF) $4
- (175) Darren Sproles (SD - RB) $7
- (189) Dexter McCluster (KC - WR,RB) $6
- (230) Mike Thomas (Jac - WR) $3
- (246) Danny Amendola (StL - WR) $1
Percy Harvin is underrated if he’s still doing returns. If he is, and his role steps up, 800 rec yards and 1400 return yards would be a pretty potent combination. I can’t tell you why but I think Austin was something of a one year wonder - he’ll do fine this year, maybe 1100 yards, but not like last year. Welker is a gamble but they’ll probably find some way to make it work.
RB is very weak - if Cadillac somehow stays healthy, that’s a good value, but that’s ulikely. Jones is the nominal starter in Dallas but I expect there’s going to be a pretty even split of carries. Celek will be good this year, between Campbell and Smith you’ll find someone to do decent QB numbers, and Mike Thomas may be the steal of the draft. You’re so thin at RB at some point you might actually have to use/abuse the WR, RB tag on Dexter McCluster. But if everyone cliks the right way this team could be pretty decent.
9.Evil Monkey (MTRG)
6. (102) Eli Manning (NYG - QB) $15
- (7) Arian Foster (Hou - RB) $39
- (65) Marion Barber (Dal - RB) $25
- (70) Mike Sims-Walker (Jac - WR) $22
- (98) Jeremy Maclin (Phi - WR) $17
- (105) Tim Tebow (Den - QB) $2
- (140) Mike Wallace (Pit - WR) $11
- (18) Vernon Davis (SF - TE) $27
- (145) San Francisco (SF - DEF) $6
- (147) Ben Roethlisberger (Pit - QB) $8
- (178) Jeremy Shockey (NO - TE) $5
- (181) Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ - WR) $11
- (198) Mewelde Moore (Pit - RB) $3
- (211) Mario Manningham (NYG - WR) $7
- (217) Jeff Reed (Pit - K) $1 =
I like the upside on this team. Arian Foster may be a beast - but Houston is fickle and it probably would’ve served you well to grab Slaton. Barber, although not the starter, may end up with the most fantasy points in Dallas anyway. Sims-Walker and Maclin are good values - I like Maclin this year. Mike Wallace has some upside, but like Austin, he may regress somewhat as he comes more into focus of opposing defenses. Eli will regress a bit and Ben will be crappy until mid-season, but for a combined $23 you’ll find some good quarterback value between them. Vernon Davis won’t get as many flukey TDs as he did last year, but no reason he can’t still be top 5. Would like to see higher pside on the bench, but a solid team.
10.Up by Three (Taber)
7. (94) Kevin Kolb (Phi - QB) $14
- (2) Ray Rice (Bal - RB) $70
- (15) Calvin Johnson (Det - WR) $43
- (46) Mike Williams (Sea - WR) $14
- (73) Terrell Owens (Cin - WR) $17
- (75) Ted Ginn Jr. (SF - WR) $10
- (93) Jason Snelling (Atl - RB) $6
- (107) Darrius Heyward-Bey (Oak - WR) $5
- (113) Tashard Choice (Dal - RB) $13
- (114) Maurice Morris (Det - RB) $1
- (134) Brandon Pettigrew (Det - TE) $1
- (154) Sammie Stroughter (TB - WR) $3
- (213) Mike Tolbert (SD - RB) $1
- (232) Indianapolis (Ind - DEF) $1
- (248) Ryan Succop (KC - K) $1
The three starting WRs are solid. Rice will be good this year, not quite as good as last. Kolb will probably end up ranking around 15th somewhere, so decent. Your other RB spot is a big question mark - starting Snelling is pretty weak and it pretty much forces you to use a WR in the flex, and you’re not terribly deep there either, although I guess Ginn Jr. might put up a few points. If you had a solid RB2, I’d be much higher on this team, but you definitely have the potential to throw up a lot of points on any given week.
11.Garcon’s Cedilla (Friend of MrSquishy)
6. (137) Kyle Orton (Den - QB) $9
- (28) Steven Jackson (StL - RB) $58
- (41) Randy Moss (NE - WR) $44
- (83) LeSean McCoy (Phi - RB) $39
- (100) Johnny Knox (Chi - WR) $13
- (159) Bernard Berrian (Min - WR) $6
- (169) Mike Williams (TB - WR) $6
- Jermichael Finley (GB - TE) $30
- (174) Cincinnati (Cin - DEF) $2
- (218) Billy Cundiff (Bal - K) $3
- (222) Leon Washington (Sea - RB) $4
- (235) Peyton Hillis (Cle - RB) $1
- (250) Jake Delhomme (Cle - QB) $1
- Jacoby Jones (Hou - WR) $18
- Brandon LaFell (Car - WR) $1
Orton is sneaky good for fantasy, although I have no idea what Ego Mcdaniels will do with Tebow and if that’ll hurt Orton. I’m actually kind of high on Delhomme this year, so that’s a nice cheap backup in case something happens with Orton. I don’t like Steven Jackson - I mean, as a football player, he’s a beast - but how lng can a guy single handedly do what he does? With Brady coming back into form and Welker iffy, Moss will be wrecking some defenses - if he’s not throwing a fit over the contract.
I like Johnny Knox to be the most productive bear receiver this season. Mike Williams from TB has a high ceiling for a rookie. I like Leon Washington having an outside shot at being very productive in Seattle. McCoy seems to be in a great situation, but he was last year too and wasn’t too impressive. Trading for Finley helped your team a decent bit - you didn’t give up too much and he’s a monster. I also like Jacoby Jones’ upside.
Peyton Hillis is a beast in short yardage and may get some TDs - or, as I mentioned, the hatred of Harrison may get him a decent share of the rushing load.
12.Hey There Fancypants (MrSquishy)
2. (45) Jay Cutler (Chi - QB) $22
- (9) Frank Gore (SF - RB) $66
- (53) Larry Fitzgerald (Ari - WR) $35
- (95) Brandon Jacobs (NYG - RB) $20
- (104) Dez Bryant (Dal - WR) $16
- (106) Kareem Huggins (TB - RB) $10
- (47) Garrett Hartley (NO - K) $6
- (127) New York (NYJ - DEF) $7
- (160) Devin Hester (Chi - WR) $6
- (171) Lawrence Tynes (NYG - K) $5
- (244) Jason Hill (SF - WR) $1
- (259) Christopher Ivory (NO - RB) $1
- (260) Patrick Crayton (SD - WR) $3
- (271) Will Heller (Det - TE) $1
- (281) Matt Leinart (Hou - QB) $1
Gore will be great this year until he gets hurt - he’s one back you really need to handcuff and you didn’t. Fitz will be tough to predict this year - he’s talented enough to produce regardless of cast, but Anderson is pure boom or bust. If Anderson focuses on Fitz and focuses on his strengths, Fitz could catch 15 TDs this year.
I don’t like rookie wide receivers in general and I wouldn’t have paid that much for Dez Bryant. Huggins was a bit expensive for a lottery ticket, but I guess Caddy is as likely as anyone to get injured. Is there a TE I’m missing somewhere? Will Heller will be the #3 TE on his team, you need to patch that up.
I’m having a hard time predicting Cutler so I’m not even going to try.
13.Scissor Me Timbers (Munch)
2. (4) Drew Brees (NO - QB) $45
- (1) Chris Johnson (Ten - RB) $85
- (14) Brandon Marshall (Mia - WR) $35
- (91) Chad Ochocinco (Cin - WR) $22
- (225) Matt Hasselbeck (Sea - QB) $1
- (239) James Davis (Cle - RB) $3
- (257) Jerious Norwood (Atl - RB) $1
- (269) Rashad Jennings (Jac - RB) $1
- (279) Lance Moore (NO - WR) $1
- (287) Leonard Weaver (Phi - RB) $1
- (291) Brandon Lloyd (Den - WR) $1
- (293) Atlanta (Atl - DEF) $1
- (295) Courtney Roby (NO - WR) $1
- (297) Kevin Faulk (NE - RB) $1
- (299) Donald Lee (GB - TE) $1
This is basically a 4 player team - although Chris Johnson and Drew Brees are about as good of two players as you can have one a 4 player team. Marshall is always productive and I expect Ochocinco to fall off but he’s a fine WR2. And that’s all you have. James Davis may get some carries if the aforementioned Harrison hatred shows up on the Browns, and you’ve got some lottery ticket handcuff guys, but it’s going to be hard for you to fill out a starting roster. You don’t even have a starting TE on the roster. You’re ranked this high mostly just on the strength of Johnson/Brees/Marshall.
14.No Use For A Name II (Retrovertigo) - (168) Sam Bradford (StL - QB) $4
- (3) Adrian Peterson (Min - RB) $72
- (32) Donald Brown (Ind - RB) $18
- (48) Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG - RB) $34
- (64) Michael Crabtree (SF - WR) $25
- (68) Dallas Clark (Ind - TE) $26
- (109) Rob Bironas (Ten - K) $2
- (176) Demaryius Thomas (Den - WR) $5
- (183) Austin Collie (Ind - WR) $4
- (186) Kevin Walter (Hou - WR) $5
- (188) Byron Leftwich (Pit - QB) $1
- (243) Josh Morgan (SF - WR) $1
- (258) Brandon Tate (NE - WR) $1
- (270) New England (NE - DEF) $1
- (280) Josh Scobee (Jac - K) $1
I don’t like Bradford as a starting QB, and Leftwich is out for 2-4 weeks for a team that might only use him for the first 4 weeks. This is the biggest knock on your team. Your RBs are solid - Peterson and Bradshaw will be a great top 2. Brown’s upside is getting about half the carries in Indy but I wouldn’t bank on it yet. But you could still use your flex spot on a receiver anyway. Demayrius Thomas will be good one day, but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen this year, especially with his injury. Crabtree will probably be pretty good, and you should get at least some production out of Collie or Walter although I’m not high on either of them this year. Dallas Clark is going to be top 3, and at that price, that’s solid. If you had a solid QB situatiion I’d probably rank this team 3 places higher.
15.The Gusterrhoids (Justin_Bailey)
4. (57) Donovan McNabb (Was - QB) $13
2. (22) Marques Colston (NO - WR) $28
3. (23) Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac - RB) $71
5. (101) Jason Witten (Dal - TE) $19
6. (124) New Orleans (NO - DEF) $5
7. (125) David Garrard (Jac - QB) $8
8. (136) Julius Jones (Sea - RB) $4
9. (143) Derrick Mason (Bal - WR) $8
10. (144) Julian Edelman (NE - WR) $6
11. (157) Santonio Holmes (NYJ - WR) $11
12. (182) Willis McGahee (Bal - RB) $4
13. (184) Golden Tate (Sea - WR) $3
14. (192) Joshua Cribbs (Cle - WR) $6
15. (196) Arrelious Benn (TB - WR) $2
- (20) Stephen Gostkowski (NE - K) $8
McNabb is good here and undervalued, if he doesn’t get killed behind the Skin’s line. Garrard is a solid backup. I don’t know Derrick Mason will do much this year - he’s winding down and he’ll see fewer targets due to Boldin. Although he’ll probably be a good WR3… it’s too bad he’ll probably be your WR2, at least until or even if Holmes gets his shit together… Colston and Witten are good and good values where you got them. You’ve got a lot of promising young WRs (I think Cribbs will have 400 rushing, 300 receiving, 1500 returning at minimum - good flex play) but no RBs at all beyond MJD. If you’re choosing between McGahee and Julius Jones every week for your RB2 starter you’ll be hurting. The solid QB position and the upside of all your receivers is your strength here.
16.Phoenix Redbirds (Dalej42) - (96) Chad Henne (Mia - QB) $12
- (52) C.J. Spiller (Buf - RB) $24
- (63) Beanie Wells (Ari - RB) $37
- (135) Clinton Portis (Was - RB) $11
- Anquan Boldin (Bal - WR) $27
- Devery Henderson (NO - WR) $5
- John Carlson (Sea - TE)
- (179) Matt Prater (Den - K) $4
- (191) Dan Carpenter (Mia - K) $3
- (212) Chicago (Chi - DEF) $2
- (274) Jerramy Stevens (TB - TE) $1
- (289) Brian Westbrook (SF - RB) $1
- Derek Anderson (Ari - QB) $3
- Louis Murphy (Oak - WR) $2
You’ve done a lot to remake this team, and while I think your changes are a net positive, I think you could’ve gotten more for Jermichael Finley and Jacoby Jones than you did. Henne will be good this he - he finished off last year strong, and he’s got Brandon Marshall to work with. I don’t want Spiller because it’s so unclear how the carries will be spread in Buffalo, and it’s not a prolific offense with tons of carries to go around. I’m not that high on Wells either this year - I think Hightower will get somewhere like 33-40% of the fantasy points out of the Cardinals RBs.
Boldin will be good. Flacco unfortunately seems to be developing fairly well, and Boldin will get lots of targets. Henderson should be good but the New Orleans receivers are pretty hard to predict. Anderson has boom or bust potential - if he clicks, it could be big. Clinton Portis was undervalued - although he’s the oldest 29 year old ever, he might be able to get 1000+ under Shanahan again. I don’t particularly like owning Westbrook this year although maybe he’ll be worth the occasional flex start… the back to own on the 49ers is Anthony Dixon
You might deserve a ranking higher than what I’m giving you, but there’s not a lot of upside on your team, especially relative to the amount of questions.
17.Not Sure (Unknown)
- (17) Rashard Mendenhall (Pit - RB) $65
- (27) Peyton Manning (Ind - QB) $52
- (119) LaDainian Tomlinson (NYJ - RB) $8
- (123) Pierre Garcon (Ind - WR) $14
- (150) Chris Chambers (KC - WR) $4
- (151) Minnesota (Min - DEF) $7
- (60) David Akers (Phi - K) $5
- (152) Steve Breaston (Ari - WR) $10
- (163) Laurence Maroney (NE - RB) $4
- (166) Chris Cooley (Was - TE) $5
- (167) Matt Cassel (KC - QB) $5
- (190) Todd Heap (Bal - TE) $4
- (195) Correll Buckhalter (Den - RB) $4
- (201) Roy Williams (Dal - WR) $8
- (214) Willie Parker (Was - RB) $1
Aside rom Mendenhall and Manning, this team is full of question marks. What will Garcon’s role be this year? How many TDs will Tomlinson steal from Greene? Will Chris Chambers remember that he’s not supposed to suck? There’s not a lot to like on this team - QB and RB1 aree good, but everything else is kind of a mess. Breaston may end up being your #1 WR.
18.Frosted_Lightning (Frosted Glass)
6. (82) Matt Ryan (Atl - QB) $17
- (25) Steve Smith (Car - WR) $50
- (34) Michael Bush (Oak - RB) $23
- (37) Shonn Greene (NYJ - RB) $49
- (67) Matthew Stafford (Det - QB) $14
- (77) Devin Aromashodu (Chi - WR) $13
- (129) Visanthe Shiancoe (Min - TE) $13
- (170) Larry Johnson (Was - RB) $2
- (177) Pittsburgh (Pit - DEF) $6
- (180) Adam Vinatieri (Ind - K) $2
- (215) Nate Washington (Ten - WR) $2
- (216) Anthony Gonzalez (Ind - WR) $4
- (227) Marcedes Lewis (Jac - TE) $2
- (234) Jason Avant (Phi - WR) $1
- (242) Matt Bryant (Atl - K) $2
Your QBs will be solid but middle of the road. Steve Smith (CAR) wasn’t your fault at $50 apparently but that’s what stands out at me. He still looks like he’s got the skills so he may be a solid RB1. Shonn Greene should be top 10. Michael Bush, if healthy, will be the starting RB for Raiders and do pretty well - but he may miss the first few weeks of the year.
Your other WRs are kind of a mess - Aromashodu is a favorite of all the fantasy players but I’m not sure how productive he’ll be this year - I’d rather invest in Knox or Hester myself. Shiancoe will get lots of TDs if Favre stays healthy all year. Nate Washington is a decent sleeper but I wouldn’t want to count on him starting until he proves himself a bit. Anthony Gonzalez is a dice roll I took in another league - but it’s not looking good so far for him to get a lot of production.
There’s not a ton of upside on this team. If Bush comes back healthy early you might do alright, but I don’t see many big scoring weekends.
19.Unrelated Siblings (Uncle Brother Walker)
- (6) Joe Flacco (Bal - QB) $30
- (21) Andre Johnson (Hou - WR) $52
- (59) Ricky Williams (Mia - RB) $20
- (84) Donald Driver (GB - WR) $20
- (122) Baltimore (Bal - DEF) $5
- (141) Owen Daniels (Hou - TE) $8
- (155) Mohamed Massaquoi (Cle - WR) $6
- (158) Chester Taylor (Chi - RB) $5
- (220) Damian Williams (Ten - WR) $1
- (231) Sam Hurd (Dal - WR) $3
- (237) Anthony Fasano (Mia - TE) $1
- (252) Rian Lindell (Buf - K) $1
- (264) Le’Ron McClain (Bal - RB) $1
- (275) Sam Aiken (NE - WR) $1
- (39) Neil Rackers (Hou - K) $10
I see big declines for Ricky Williams and Donald Driver. Williams had a flukey good year last year I think - they won’t rely on the running game as much due to Marshall, Brown may be healthy, and Ricky is old. He may still have a fairly good year, but he’s your #1… not good. Driver is old and on broken knees. Because he’s in such a productive offense he’ll do ok, but he’s going to start slowing down pretty quickly. Flacco should develop, especially with Boldin, but there was better QB value to be had at $30 there.
Owen Daniels is a decent gamble. I like Massaquoi for $6, very good value, he may end up being your most productive WR. But aside from Andre Johnson, you don’t erally have strength anywhere.
20.Court Jesters (d_odds)
- (11) Nate Kaeding (SD - K) $11
- (40) Mason Crosby (GB - K) $6
- (130) Steve Slaton (Hou - RB) $9
- (142) New York (NYG - DEF) $4
- (254) Kevin Smith (Det - RB) $1
- (262) Benjamin Watson (Cle - TE) $2
- (266) Early Doucet (Ari - WR) $1
- (276) Ladell Betts (NO - RB) $1
- (284) Tarvaris Jackson (Min - QB) $1
- (290) Brandon Stokley (Den - WR) $1
- (292) Laveranues Coles (NYJ - WR) $1
- (294) Carolina (Car - DEF) $1
- (296) Kellen Davis (Chi - TE) $1
- (298) Justin Fargas (Den - RB) $1
- (300) Mark Clayton (StL - WR) $1
What can I say? Autodraft massacre. I was hoping he’d be more active in grabbing undrafted players off the waiver wire. If we do make FAAB tradable, you may salvage something - and because of all that FAAB you’ll be the first to snatch up any breakout players, but it seems like you’ll be unlikely to win any game - and that’s a problem for league balance.
Curry Porkrinds needs a roster adjustment (empty slots). As does Phoenix Redbirds, Garcon’s Cedillia, and Court Jesters.
Pushed a trade through before gametime: Gusterroids gives up Golden Tate, Scissor Me Timbers gives up Rashad Jennings.
Thank you, Beef, for the lengthy write-ups on each team. They are certainly food for thought.
I agree with you, and noted it in my own write-up above, that my team is critically dependent on Favre’s health. Unfortunately, I felt taking a risk like that was the only way to get a team that could contend for the title, as opposed to being just good enough to lose. I don’t see him equaling last year, but hopefully he’ll be competent. Letting AP carry some of the load (how did he not hardly get the ball in the 2nd half!?), Gerhart butching up, and getting on the same page with Camarillo will be helpful for Farve. Hopefully all that’ll cut down on his gunslinger moments, until Rice gets back. Favre just needs to survive until some of my sleepers emerge, if at all. Even I know I can’t play 3 TEs at once.
(I also didn’t figure I could get a QB like Rivers for the price of a WR 1/2, not that I really have them to spare. Seriously, did you wear a ski mask when you made that trade?)
For your team, I love Charles, and rode him like Secretariat to winning my other FF league last year, but the time-share concerns me. Unlike LJ, TJ is competent, and I can see more than 30% of the carries going his way. The TJ/Charles situation vaguely reminded me of the way the Cowboys used Felix Jones last year, which pissed me off all last year, and scared me away from bids this year. For your sake, I hope KC is smart enough to realize that guys getting 5.7 ypc on over 150 carries don’t come around every day.
For Stewart, I have him in another league and I used him last year. I was concerned his injury history might actually interfere with his game, as opposed to being the next Brian Westbrook: a guy who’s always skipping practice cause he’s nicked up, but always shows up strong on Sunday. (Nice guy, BTW.) Great value, though, especially compared to his team mate. I am envious of your depth at RB, and want to thank you again for poaching Scott from me. (My own damn fault for spending on D. Thomas) I keep hearing different things about Kevin Smith’s knee, everything from “It’s just a ding,” to “He’s inactive this week, and God knows when he’ll play again.” Not a big fan of relying heavily on rookie RBs, though that’s because I keep drafting the Beanie Wells, Felix Jones, and Shonn Greenes of the world and miss out on the Adrian Petersons. (Charles was a very lucky waiver acquisition.)
I like Nicks a lot, think you overrate Bowe—though my personal proj for him of 80/950/6 is nothing to sneeze at, and if Burleson doesn’t do well in that situation, it’s his own damn fault. With return yards, I like my trio more than yours, but reasonable minds can differ.
Waiver question: We can only make waiver bids after Sunday at 1PM Eastern, correct? If there are earlier games, e.g. Saints/Vikings, any bids made earlier will be reverted? First time using a FAAB system, and there are a few guys I’m looking at. I agree with the suggestion to include FAAB $ in trades, makes things more interesting. And have no problem with Henderson being included in this week’s play.
Should be an interesting and fun year.
Yahoo automatically puts free agents onto the Waiver wire from Sunday at 1pm ET till Tuesday at midnight (IIRC). So any free agents you want to pick up now, you have to bid on.
But if a game takes places before Sunday at 1pm, yahoo won’t automatically put the players involved in that game on waivers. So they’re free agents available to be picked up immediately. But that’s just a loophole or an oversight - the purpose of this system is so that players involved in a game aren’t free agents, they’re on waivers so everyone has a chance at them.
So I created the special rule, above yahoo’s automatic system, which says that free agents involved in a Thrusday/Saturday night game are off limits, and when they go on waivers at Sunday at 1pm with all the other players, that’s when you can bid on them and win them.
I put up an astounding 30 points this week. My only QB has a concussion, and Ted Ginn jr went down. I may be in trouble.
also, if Ryan Succop doesn’t put up 7-8 points, I’ll score less than Court Jesters
Remember to get waiver claims in. I think they get processed Tuesday night/Wednesday morning at midnight, but I’m not 100% sure. FAAB is a silent auction system - you put in a claim (by finding the player and clicking the add button) with a bid amount, and if you have the highest bid, that’s subtracted from your year-long total and you get the player.
I would like to complain that neither Ahman Green or Najeh Davenport are available to pick up following Ryan Grant’s injury. My strategy is shot…
