SDMB Bridge League - who/when/where/what

Ok, we’re gonna call it Mondays at 7pm Eastern, starting on the 31st (ie. not tomorrow).

It looks like pretty much everyone knows how to play Standard American, and we have two who also play ACOL, so we should have no problems pairing up as far as systems are concerned. I think for now it might be best to just play it by ear based on who shows up and how often, basically forming random partnerships each week; I suspect over time we’ll find regular partnerships that seem to match up better for everyone based on playing style, etc.

I’ll do some scouting on BBO and report back in this thread sometime this week with the name of an unused club room we can invade to call our own so that we have a central meeting place within BBO.

If anyone is new to BBO and has questions or needs help, let me know. I’m fubbleskag on BBO and fbblskg (remove the vowels) on AIM.

<snipped>

rut roh, rastro.

how come i foresee a partnership of one in my future?

**1) days/times you’re available to play, in order of preference
**Most weekday evenings after 9pm

**2) bidding systems/conventions you’re willing to play, in order of preference
** Standard 2/1 GF with the “usual gadgets” is fine. I used to play a Weak NT and relay crapola, but after 8 years or so of very infrequent playing, I won’t remember anything that complicated.

**3) bridge sites you’re willing to patron, in order of preference
** I’ve never played bridge online so anything’s good with me.

**4) what level of play you would rate yourself as
**A very rusty “A Minus” player (formerly played duplicate bridge intensively, and would routinely finish overall in the “X” of “A/X” team events but rarely in the A level). So downgrade me to “B Plus” I guess.

  1. Sun. to Wed. 8-11pm ET.
  2. SAYC, but can play anything with some practice
  3. I’ve only played at the the MS Zone, but will sign on for any free sites.
  4. B+, maybe higher when rust falls off
  5. Maybe you want people to let you know their internet hook-up situation. Lagging will slow down the games and be a nuisance to everyone.I have High Speed DSL service myself.

So, I totally forgot today was Monday - long weekend here and all - if anyone’s lurking this thread looking for an update, let’s hit the “Bridge a la Carte” public club room on BBO.

Also, we should all probably post our BBO usernames - I’m **fubbleskag **(I know, so original).

sorry fubs. i totally forgot that monday was memorial day when i signed up.

i can be there next week, however.

I have set a calendar reminder for next Monday. I am amarone58.

bump/reminder: tomorrow at 7pm Eastern in the ‘Bridge ala Carte’ public bridge club

I’m just in from playing at the club, so am a bit cabbaged. I’ll logon as a standby to make up a table if here is a fourth required - usrname el mister.

We need a 4th - anyone available?

Good first week, thanks for coming out everyone.

amarone and Busy Scissors paired up as ACOL players and gave peekercpa and myself a good schooling.

Hand results in case anyone is interested.

How did you do that? I can see how to get recent hands shown, but that is an asp page, nothing like the link you show.

There’s a link from the BBO main page: http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/index.php

Just fill in your username and date-range, etc.

Just got through playing a sub-par set with my regular partner. I planned on joining you folks earlier, but my wife is under the weather, and I’m already stretching it playing my regular hours instead of tending to her.

Perhaps next week?

Drat! I might be available anytime except my sleeping time (3 am - 11 am) but that corresponds with New York prime time: 4 pm - midnight.

Message me if you ever have a morning game, or a game during Europe’s afternoon.

I was sick the past couple of Mondays. Anyone playing tonight?

I couldn’t make it at 7PM - available now if anyone is interested.
