I have absolutely no faith in Jackson, and I have no idea why I even bid on him. I have even less faith in Nate Burleson, though, and I really needed to pick up another startable wideout.
When I really looked hard at Jackson’s potential ceiling, I realized it wasn’t any higher than Rice’s (absolutely no reason for teams not to load up the box against the not-at-all-improved Rams passing game), and since I already had Willie McGahee on my roster I didn’t have to worry about the one issue I have with Rice, which is the possibility that he’ll lose the starting job.
I’m pretty sure that Edwards will post 1,000 yards this season based solely on the fact that there is nobody else to throw to on the Browns’ roster.
Based on yesterday’s performance, I’m fairly certain I’ll have to give up some of my (impressive) running back depth to upgrade at quarterback. It looks like when the Vikes said they won’t throw more than 20 times a game, they meant it.
SenorBeef has to make up a 14 point deficit plus whatever Tom Brady/Lee Evans/McFadden score with Wes Welker, Darren Sproles, Zach Miller, Gostkowski, and the chargers defense
RNATB needs Terrell Owens to outscore Vincent Jackson by 11.64 points
I practically have my whole team starting on Monday night

Damn it, outside of 3 players Omni had an atrocious week and he’s still gonna beat me unless Darren Sproles decides to rip off a 90 yard TD run. Even then it’ll be close.
I’m in 4 leagues, 3 of which use partial PPR. The league I own Wes “I make 32 catches per game” Welker in? The fourth, of course.
I lost, badly. Burleson was a nice surprise, but when your top two RBs are projected for 26 and end up with just under 10, you can’t win. Gonzalez was hurt and will probably miss the rest of the season, so my already thin WR group just got worse. My team looked mediocre after the draft, and it only looks more feeble now.
I went 2-2 and so close to 3-1 on a week where my studs (Ronnie Brown, Steve Slaton, and Pierre Thomas in 3 leagues - under 7 points, under 7 points, and out respectively) so I guess it’s not terrible.
Hmm. Did you set up your roster on ESPN expecting that to be where we played the league? If it was an honest mistake, I’m tempted to say I should (as commish) retroactively let the starters you chose on ESPN count for you on week 1 on yahoo. On the other hand, I did detail probably 3 or 4 times about how we’d draft on ESPN and play on yahoo, and that’s how we did it last year.
But… the score for the roster you started on ESPN, had you started them in the yahoo league, would’ve scored 90.16 points*, which beats Varlos by 2 points. It doesn’t seem fair at all to him to remove a victory. On the other hand, I don’t want you to start at 0 points and be behind on points tiebreakers.
*The bengals D started on your roster in the ESPN league, but you don’t own them in the yahoo league (even though you could, since they’re free agents). I suppose if we said you started 0 defense and took away the 7 points the Bengals defense scored, then you’d lose to Varlos 88.90 to 83.16, which would preserve the win/loss record of the league but also not put you in a points hole.
I’m at your mercy. If I lost, that’s fair, since the screwup was mine and mine alone. But, I would have picked up the Bengal defense and started it, since I decided to do that last week. I even dropped the Bucs defense. I wouldn’t mind losing (as much) with a modicum of points.
Minus the Bengals. Bit weird for him to be credited for a player that isn’t on his roster. Give him whichever defense he would have started out of the ones that are on his roster, regardless of what they scored.
Well, the trick is that I’m sure if he thought yahoo was the normal league he’d have picked up the Bengals there too (as they were free agents) and played them. OTOH, whoever he dropped when picking up that defense may have played a role in someone else’s roster, so it may be imperfect to accept it as a valid roster move.
I mean - obviously he’s not trying to pull some sort of trick with this, but I also thought it was totally clear what we’d be doing as far as playing the season. It feels wrong to deny Varlos a win when it appeared to be the case, but on the other hand he may not want to have a tainted victory either. Whatever I do here is going to make someone unhappy, so I’m hoping more people can chime in with how to deal with the situation so that we can form a consensus.
If we forced him to start the defense that was actually on his roster (Tampa Bay) who put up 0 points, he’d lose to Varlos by a few points but not start the season with 0 points. But… he did clearly drop TB for Cinci in the ESPN league on the 11th, so it’s clear those were his intentions.
If so, it would have been tight. They would have had to log in just before kickoff to check if waivers cleared, and if so then started TB as their defense. Against Dallas. I’m comfortable calling this scenario highly unlikely.
