Alright. I talked to Varlos and he seems fine with the idea. He didn’t want to chime in the thread and influence the consensus. So I’ll go ahead and retroactively add Rocket Sugery’s ESPN starting lineup to his yahoo roster retroactively, including dropping the Bucs defense for the Bengals (which I will leave as a roster change for this week too).
Pending trade:
Hamlet givess up Matt Schaub and RNATB gives up Marion Barber.
Got to reduce my Marion Barberedness. Great pick in all the drafts I took him in, but if he misses more than a game he’ll torpedo 4 out of my 5 fantasy teams.
I fast tracked a trade between Hamlet, where I gave up Felix Jones for Donald Driver. I hope no one minds this. It was a time sensitive trade (I proposed it yesterday and he accepted it this morning) because it’s meant for this week and I don’t think anyone would object, since it seems ordinary and fair to me. If it turns out there are objections to the trade, I’ll punish myself somehow.
Well if Vinatieri scores 9 or less then I can still pull out a win from this clusterfuck.
I say clusterfuck because I almost started 17.80 point Derrick Mason over 0 point Ted Ginn Jr (with all the targets last week, I thought he might get rid of the dropsies and put up a good game this week).
I discounted Pierre Thomas simply due to the injury situation, but he ends up scoring 24.6(!) points.
And… well… Knowshon Moreno… I didn’t seriously consider starting him but he put up more points than either of my RBs.
Yet I still put up a respectable enough score of 94.16 despite that, and Varlos is about to beat me by a point or two.
I’d say he’s unlikely to score 10.
Stop sneaking up on me with your field goal bullshit!
A win, and probably high score for the week. Amazing, especially considering I was writing off my chances in this league at halftime of the 1:00 games last week.
I barely held on because Indy had a 4th down in field goal range, went for it, and then had a 4th & 14 at like the 12 yard line and ran it. I don’t know if the Colts coach was facing Vinatieri in his fantasy league too or what, but damn that rocked. I guess he didn’t really care about adding to the score since the game was out of reach. Most coaches will kick field goals there, though.
Weird. It now lists my score as 96.16. But I had 94-something before. I’m quite sure of this because I knew a field goal would’ve lost the game for me and it was 94-something to 91.88. But under the stat corrections section, nothing is listed. Do they silently adjust stats?
So, dear Jammers, we have our first matchup of the season.
Surrender now and your women and children will be spared and re-educated.
Our standings so far, ordered by points scored:
- Show Me Your TD’s 2-1 313.94
- New York Fanboys 3-0 311.22
- Orlando Rage (RNATB) 2-1 286.106
- Last Place 2-1 282.92
- Varlos’ Zzzzzzz 0-3 265.44
- The Jackson 4 (Hmlet 0-3 263.16
- Exploding Pancakes 2-1 261.06
- Overly Sentimental 2-1 248.80
- Quentin’s JAMmers 2-1 245.24
- The One Man League 1-2 230.74
- Chicago Cutlery 1-2 211.14
- Cobra Kai 1-2 209.12
Based on your very fortunate timing of this matchup, I might as well surrender. My team doesn’t have a chance.
Based on my fantasy team so far, good sir, you have quite a chance. The fact that my projected score will probably beat you by 20 means that I am doomed.
Reminder. Teams with empty/bye/injured players that need to be adjusted: Ellis Dee, Boozahol.
Rosters that need adjustment due to bye or injury: Kiros and Ellis Dee.
Last week Cobra Kai started someone who wasn’t playing at K and RB, and Ellis Dee did at kicker. Please make sure you have your rosters filled with active players.
Doh! That was an oversight, not inactivity. Not sure how I missed it, but I guess setting my roster in 5 leagues (if you count the salary cap league) in one sitting on Sunday mornings can lead to a few hiccups.
On the plus side, I’m currently undefeated in the auction league, winning without a kicker last week by 30+ points.
The salary cap league is a tough one. On the one hand, I’d love to dump guys like Aaron Rodgers during their bye, but on the other hand, with over $5 in value gains I’d never be able to resign them.
I ate DeSean Jackson during his bye last week because his value was just too good, and similarly I’ll probably weather Steve Smith’s bye in week 10, but I got lots of dudes on a bye this week. I like my high ranking in both the CT pool as well as the NYG pool, not to mention first place in the SDMB pool, but I think it’s smarter to drop like a rock this week by just eating the byes and trying to catch back up in future weeks.
After looking at the situation more closely, I ended up switching out three bye week players for active ones, leaving Aaron Rodgers as my only inactive. Just can’t afford to lose that five bucks.
They did no worse than my D.
Our league here is super-savvy. We had IMO a very competant draft with no real mistakes. Now things are so evenly matched that 9 of our scores fall between 430 and 486, which is an extremely balanced league so far.
I’d pick any of us to be a favorite in almost any other league out there.
