SDMB Fantasy Football big league (league full)

I’m willing to package Cassel and one of my receivers (Ochocinco, Roddy White, Eddie Royal, Mohamed Massaquoi) for a very good QB. Send an offer if interested.

Ugh. :frowning:

Permit me to rant, sirs.

The average points scored per team in our league is 578. Which means that that’s also the average points people have had scored against them too.

The top 3 scores are
Exploding Pancakes 710.59
Team Ed Gruberman 647.98
Varlos’ Zzzzzzz 619.06

So I’m way ahead of the game, 132 points above the average.

But… top 3 points against (meaning what the opponents of these players scored) are
Exploding Pancakes 707.81
Phoenix Redbirds 659.27
We Do HGH 626.21

So even though I’ve scored the most points in the league by a decent margin, I’m sitting in 4th place in my division because I’ve also had the most points by far scored against me coincidentally. The guy one spot ahead of me in the division has 489 points to my 710.

That’s a cruel set of circumstances, for sure. I think it’ll all even out - rarely does someone get truly screwed by that at the end of the season. We have 8 playoff slots, right? Plus - you’re still in 8th place, good enough for the final slot.

In other news, I jumped from 10th to 2nd overnight. That’s a nice surprise. Still a lot of football to play, though. I am in the market for a TE. I don’t have a ton to trade, but Austin Collie is sure to keep at least the #3 WR slot when Anthony Gonzalez returns, if not remain Peyton’s second look. Or if you’re confident that Lance Moore has recovered from his early season hobbling and that Sunday’s game was a decent indication of what to expect going forward, he’s available.

It happens. There was the year in He Hate Me when I finished first in points scored (by a lot) but 8th out of 14 in the overall standings. Had to go on something like a 5 game winning streak at the end of the season just to sneak into the consolation bracket (which I steam-rolled).

While we’re throwing out names for trades, I’ll offer up Mark Sanchez to anyone willing to part with a WR or a RB.

I have a luke-warm bag of spit. Deal? (Says the guy with Matt Stafford…)

My 620.48 points disagrees with your top 3 scores

And I am only out of my divisional lead because my divisional record is worse than the guy with the same record as me who has 20 less points.

Rosters that still need adjustment due to injured/bye players (I realize some of you guys don’t have replacements available, but I’m just putting out reminders for all empty slots):
cobra kai
court jesters
frosted lightning
stinkers
phoenix redbirds
curry porkrinds

Good. You’ve just made me feel better about my whole season!

Seriously, your situation is one of the most frustrating things in FF. I don’t have this particular problem, but last place is last place. I’ve earned mine (not for lack of effort to improve my team, mind you… the picking is slim out there).

I was somewhat uncertain about leaving my TE slot open but I didn’t see the sense in dropping a player for a bottom tier TE. I am happy to see that my gamble is paying off though. Sidney Rice and Mike Wallace have really stepped it up for me today. The success of Wallace has not surprised me at all. Watching him evolve from preseason into the first weeks of the regular season has been very entertaining. He has emerged as a permanent number 3 even despite having outplayed Santonio Holmes lately.

This league is remarkably balanced currently.

If there are no changes tomorrow (ie the teams that are currently winning win) then we’d have

2 teams with a record of 5-2
9 teams with a record of 4-3
7 teams with a record of 3-4
1 team with a record of 2-5
1 team with a record of 1-6

So 16/20 are right in the middle with a record of 4-3 or 3-4.

As a 3-4 team, I’m glad to say I’m in the running. Not too far back, but still in the race.
I’ve had friends gauge this league. I’d like to say we’re all (for the most part) doing well.

I am having a fun time in this league.

I love this league. There is so much to consider and monitor that I am constantly keeping up with a lot of different players around the NFL. I am also happy to be in the running at 3-4. My TE gamble actually payed off. This is the second time this season that I have left a spot open instead of picking up a player in exchange for someone on the bench. In the other league I am in the spot was for a D/ST though.

Yeah, when I heard on thursday that Edelman got hurt, I pretty much immediately thought to pick up his backup. I was dismayed to see that he was hurt on Tues, and someone already picked him up.

Yeah, I’m enjoying this league a lot. It’s very interesting.
Btw, I’m still looking for a major upgrade at QB. I’m willing to give up Rashard Mendenhall and Chad Ochocinco (and Matt Cassel if you need him) for a top tier quarterback (and at least some token WR/RB in return). I might be willing to take a less than top tier quarterback too if you downgrade the receiver request.

I’d be willing to move Slaton instead of Mendenhall too, but it would require more in return.

You know, I don’t mind losing when some player has a huge game that’s unexpected (Vernon Davis, 30 points). That’s expected every now and then, and Davis is certainly expected to be on someone’s roster in a 20 team league. I also don’t mind it when some waiver wire guy puts up quite a few points on you that you didn’t expect.

But it’s truly soul-crushing when you look at the matchup results, and see *two *guys you’ve never even heard of put up a combined 30ish points on you. Who the hell are D. Amendola and E. Weems?!?

Haha, I got owned by D. Amendola last week.

Donte’s Torino is one of the two teams to have a 5-2 record, and he got it this week by putting up 67 points and getting to play against one of the 3 people who put up less :stuck_out_tongue:
