Gotta go deep in a big league, my friend …
Yeah, my 2 starting running backs were on bye, as was my starting QB. I guessed wrong on which of my injured WRs would have a better game (Boldin vs Roy Williams), and my defense put up an impressive -7 points (4 more points than my opponent’s defense). I ended up playing both Oakland running backs, and Tampa Bay’s QB and WR.
and you are a cruel man for rounding my 67.98 points down.
Also, one of the three people I’m beating is my biggest competition for divisional lead. And the leader of your division.
Also, holy shit your division contains ranks 3, 6, 7, 8. If Ed Gruberman scored 1.5 more points, you’d have jumped from 4th in your division to 1st in your division.
Not only, that, but with my original Defense (Tennessee) on a bye this week, i actually contemplated playing without one. Instead, i picked up the Bears, and the fuckers gave up 45 against the Bengals. That gave me -11. If i just left the D slot blank, i would have won.
-11 is impressive indeed. It’s the lowest possible score possible under our scoring rules. You have to give up (IIRC) 35+ and not manage to somehow stumble your way into a sack or a fumble recovery or anything. It’s a feat we may not see duplicated all year.
I just noticed that the Tennessee defense has scored overall for this year -1 points. In total.
Well played, Tennessee.
The new rankings are compiled now and they do not recognize my greatness. (I’m number 5, as the highest scoring non-division leader rather than number 3 as the highest scoring team with a 4-3 record). It looks like the divsion leaders get the leader spots regardless of record, which I guess makes sense if the numbered ranks are the same thing as playoff seeds.
This is a list of our players as sorted by total score (which is only relevant in terms of tie breakers). I just like to occasionally figure out how we’d be ranked if we had a score only league rather than head to head. The number preceeding the names are the actual rankings/seedings.
- Exploding Pancakes 4-3 835.04
- Team Ed Gruberman 4-3 751.24
- Fightin’ Quakers 4-3 730.98
- Varlos’ Zzzzzzz 4-3 726.67
- Frosted_Lightning 3-4 711.65
- Scissor Me Timbers 4-3 706.96
- Phoenix Redbirds 3-4 697.46
- Quentin’s JAMmers 3-4 690.54
- Donte’s Torino 5-2 688.46
- Unrelated Siblings 3-4 675.93
- No Use For A Name II 4-3 666.26
- Kid_A 4-3 665.64
- We Do HGH 4-3 652.55
- Curry Porkrinds 4-3 637.82
- Antonican Druids 3-4 635.84
- Court Jesters 3-4 627.46
- The Gusterrhoids 3-4 614.34
- Cobra Kai 5-2 594.28
- Stinkers 2-5 593.40
- Master Baiters 1-6 525.32
Cobra Kai is obviously the most striking - 18th place in total points, yet managed to get a 5-2 record and is in 2nd place in actual rankings. This stuff tends to equal out by the end of the season, but not always - I’ve seen guys in the top 2 or 3 slots fail to make the playoffs by the end of the year. Such is the nature of the head to head format. If you want to see the “points against” scores for everyone, open stat tracker and go to the league standing page. It’s listed under “PA”.
I came this close to dropping Marcedes Lewis last week for a shot-in-the-dark chance for a big day.
This was a good non-move for three reasons:
- I lost by 83 points.
- The guy I was going to pickup produced less points than who he was going to replace.
- Chris Cooley is out for the year with a broken ankle which would leave me picking over the TE trash that’s left in a 20-team league.
Well, at least I’m not in last place. Two consecutive wins, clawing my way to semi-respectability.
Wow, I dropped from 3rd in points to 9th in points in 1 week.
You think you’ve got it bad? I dropped from 1st to 15th in two weeks.
DAMMIT!!!
I’m going to send out another round of offers trying to upgrade at QB. If you want to give me an upgrade at QB in exchange for an upgrade at WR/RB/TE then send me (Exploding Pancakes) an offer. I’m looking for a significant upgrade - but I’m willing to move Mendenhall and/or Ochocinco/Roddy White/Eddie Royal… and possibly even Steve Slaton for a really good QB.
I picked up Ahman Green today. Westbrook hasn’t had a good year, and may not even play this weekend. My other option was Graham from Tampa, but he has a bye week, so I cut him. Green can’t be worse than Graham. Can he?
I’m (Redbirds) stuck with an empty spot for my flex player this week. Bye weeks are killers in a league this big.
Tim Hightower and LeSean McCoy did an awesome job for me today. Denver’s defense did its best at sabotaging my teams efforts this week. They put up a whopping -4 while I had Carolina and their 19 points sitting on my bench. As long as Elam doesn’t kick a crap ton of field goals tomorrow my 17 point lead should be enough to take me to .500.
Now me and Jammers are tied in the division at 4-4.
It’s okay though - he really earned it, having to beat a Phoenix Redbirds team that put up 25.94 points.
TRADE ALERT!
I need receivers. I’d like to try to pick up two.
Here’s what I’m willing to give up:
TB def
John Carney (NO-K)
Eli Manning (IND-QB)
Ben Watson (NE - TE)
If anybody is interested, let me know.
Hey big spender!!!
