I don’t really see a way for me to keep Olave without being a bit of a prick.
I wouldn’t hold it against you if you decided to keep the pick. I’m trying to find the outcome that allows the least regret/bitterness going forward and I don’t want to trade yours for RNATB’s. But it does seem like it would be the most fair outcome; I think RNATB has a valid reason for not having caught the news while he was on vacation and made an understandable mistake that can be corrected with relatively minimal disruption.
And to think of it another way - if I had remembered the Robinson thing (I remember a player getting shot but didn’t remember who), I would’ve sent RNATB a message and waited for him to respond rather than making his pick for him. It was only because Retro identified this issue after I made the proxy pick that this issue came up.
Up to you, I don’t think people are going to force the decision on you.
Edit: Oops. For some reason a PM got posted here instead of there.
Goodbye Chris Olave. Although our affair was brief, the intensity lit up the night sky like a supernova. We will always be together, maybe not in roster, but in our hearts.
1.11 George Pickens, WR, Pittsburgh.
It would be funny if Pickens ends up massively blowing up and you got saved from a bad decision. Until I realized that means your team is better, in which case it is not so funny anymore. Thanks for doing the right thing in this case, I think everything worked out alright
… I am so tempted to draft Robinson at 1.12 now so that it looks like I orchestrated this whole thing.
Okay - now I am pissed at @hamlet for doing the kindest possible thing and then stealing the guy I really wanted to drop to me
Though chances he was really going to make it through 2 more picks was probably clime. Kidding aside, thanks for doing the standup thing when the other path wwas perfectly justifiable as well.
Yeah, I had never anticipated that Olave would fall to me, so I already made my peace with not getting my second favorite receiver in the draft. It was the couple of hours I actually had him that jazzed me up. Besides, I really like Pickens’ upside, he could be a league winner if he doesn’t self-destruct or get injured. I expect Pickens’ ceiling might be higher than Olave, but I loved Olave’s floor (and the fact he’s on the Saints, so if Michael Thomas doesn’t get back to being Michael Thomas, I have insurance in the best WR on the Saints). I’m relatively solid at WR, so high risk/high reward pick may have been the way to go.
To be fair, I took a hit too - I was at least 50/50 to take Pickens.
I won’t take too long to make this pick but I’m open to trading it. I’m willing to take mid-level starters that’ll help me make a championship run, or moving down a few spots in the second round for a little something would be fine too. I’m open to anything.
Timing is unfortunate but I will be offline for several hours (not twelve). SHoudl be back to pick by early evening CT.
Is your pick ready to be made if I make mine now? @Spiritus_Mundi
Y’all are bunch of goddamn gentlemen, makes me sick.

Jahan Dotson was kind of an easy pick here, there’s a tier falloff after him, he was the last guy of that tier that fell to me. I was considering Pickens before Hamlet snatched him.
He seems like an NFL-ready guy that probably won’t bust to me, but with a capped ceiling. Good route running, no major weaknesses, fantastic hands, hard worker/student of the game - that’s the sort of guy that will last 10 years in the league and be a very good 2nd WR on real NFL teams. I think his fantasy production will probably average somewhere around the 25th-30th WR most of his career which is not amazing but I think there’s not much chance I have to cut him in the next few years. He’ll be a reliable starter when I need him.
Situation is shitty. Washington is bad, Carson Wentz will probably be bad, so while he’s fairly NFL-ready, that’s not a situation conducive to big fantasy numbers. Hopefully that’ll change over the years. Washington reached when they took him in the first round, but he seems underrated by the fantasy community where draft capital often matters because teams will give you every opportunity if you’re a first rounder.
My hope is that Jules is a little upset that he fell to me.
Didn’t have many other good options. Christian Watson is a tempting pick as a wide open Green Bay opportunity - easily the best opportunity in the league - but he definitely reads bust. Isiah Spiller maybe if I wanted a RB, fairly good situation with great handcuff upside, but too slow to be a star.
I would’ve got the pick in sooner if Mundi was still around after he said he was leaving for a while because I was 95% decided, but he took off after he posted that message. So I know he knows he’s on the clock but just for consistency I’ll page him - @Spiritus_Mundi
He probably won’t be back for a few hours. If you’re thinking of moving up in the second round start sending trade talks.
I would have been much more upset if Olave or Pickens fell to you. As it is, Hamlet is crushing the draft and that should concern everyone.
Dotson is… pretty good. I think you nailed your take on him. He’s going to be a solid 2nd WR on his team and probably never the main guy. He’s undersized and doesn’t have the elite athleticism to make up for it like Tyreek Hill or Elijah Moore. But he’s not deficient. If his situation was better, he’d have gone higher. He just makes plays, but there probably won’t be many plays on that team to make. The future doesn’t look so bright on that team, either
I believe I am ready to screw up my first ever dynasty draft pick.
My dream Pickens didn’t fall, and Moore was pie in the Skyy for 2.01. I could go TE1, but he’s behind Ertz on a team that loves 4WR spread. Watson is in prime position to be a stud Aaron Rodgers target in 2025 . . .oops. Tolbert is looking like no sizzle in Dallas, and Alec Pierce looks like a mid-grade complementary receiver on a run first team. Wan’Dale is exciting a lot of folks - but I’ve been bitten too often by NYG WR this decade (and it’s only 2022!)
So I guess I will look RB. Surprising given how this draft began. But if Pulp Fiction taught me anything about life, it is that one should never discount the transformative power of a miraculous escape from hot leaded death. Vincent Vega failed to listen to the wisdom of Jules - I shall not.

@Jules_Andre you are on the clock
I’m here. At work, so trying to get this done in between the nonsense I have to do to get paid. Shouldn’t be more than an hour at most
That makes this pick easier, thanks Mundi. But not easy. I probably would have taken Robinson thinking that I can afford for him to redshirt for me (the same way I did with Jameson Williams and Travis Etienne and Cam Akers). The struggle for me is the eternal one in this league: do I trust the experts or my rankings? The rankings have frankly let me down more often than not in this league, but I traded for this exact pick to target this specific player. This is a bet on traits and upside. The film is… okay. Not a lot of backs this draft have 3 down potential. Being in a contender position, I think I can gamble here and swing for the fences. These picks have historically not worked for me, though
