In other news Ja’marr Chase has a hairline fracture of the hip and a torn labrum. But not going on the IR.
I just realized a simple way I would be on board for going to a superflex league: For that one draft only, we would only be allowed to keep one quarterback each. Keep as many of the other positions as you like, as normal.
Every time superflex has been brought up before I’ve always been a hard no. This is a way I would be on board.
Not a bad idea, but I doubt the people who have 2 pretty good QBs now would be willing to do that - they’d have to be compensated in some way, I would think.
I think this is probably the week I finally go down. Just got the news the Deebo is out. Rashod Bateman was knocked out of the Thursday game early with an injury and put up 0 points. Dotson is out still, Chark is on IR, Allen Robinson is probably useless, I’m probably going to have to start Donovan People’s Jones at WR. Not great.
Agreed.
One possibility is they could compensate themselves by trading away their second good guy ahead of time. In theory that could get them full value in compensation. In reality, I guess everyone would be trying to trade away their second quarterback, so the market would be depressed. It would still be some compensation for those who had a really good second quarterback, at least.
Note that this is all essentially stoned ramblings at this point; I’m not invested or advocating but rather just musing over a logistical puzzle.
Tanking implies losing deliberately to me. If I was trading players for picks, the point wouldn’t be too lose but to acquire draft capital. Losing would just be a side effect. Trading my stars for younger guys will probably have the same effect, but again the point is not to lose but to rebuild my team for the long term.
I am still in the market for QB2, and I still have Fournette and two really good defenses available.
I would like one (1) AJ Brown please.
I think in fantasy, tanking is specifically limited to not properly setting lineups in order to lose each week, or trading at a loss in order to lose. Trading assets for future value is a viable strategy in a dynasty league, even if it comes at the expense of winning this season. As long as you are still making trades that reasonably benefit your team, I don’t think it is tanking.
I love that I spent so much to upgrade my last WR spot and then my two bench WRs blow up. I might have two 30 point players on my bench this week, instead of the usual one.
I really like this idea. If we ever come back around to the superflex question, this proposal has my vote.
I had to start two street free agents this week with the Chiefs on a bye, both TE and W/T. My actual backup TE, Jonnu Smith, was healthy and playing but he sucks so hard that free agents were projected higher for this game. Plus I’m down six receivers from injury, two of which I had been starting but all of a sudden were out as of yesterday.
Honestly, I’d be shocked. You’re playing the four worst teams over the next four weeks. I doubt you’ll be sitting at one win for much longer.
Yeah he has the stink of Consolation Bowl all over him. Like me, Retro and Mundi, at least going by points for. Not over yet, though.
Make that three players, thanks to D’Onta Foreman
49ers Rams is a weird pick to be Fox’s game of the week. Giants Seahawks looks like a better game.
EDIT: Oops, thought this was the week 8 thread.
It is a good day to be starting a Carolina wide receiver. DJ Moore catches a 60+ yard touchdown in the final seconds for the win, scoring 24 points in fantasy.
LOL they miss the extra point! Could still get more point fantasy points in overtime…
Alright here’s my plan to repeat as champion.
Jules and re-Petey finish the season on win streaks and end up finishing 13-1, the only loss was to me. The playoffs is Jules vs Hamlet, and Re-Petey vs me for the semi-finals. Jules has a great game and scores 175 points, beating Hamlet. Petey has a freakishly low scoring game and I beat him (for the second time this year) 92-90.
Championship week. Petey crushes Hamlet in the third place game, scoring 183 points. Only his weeks against me had weirdly low scores. Jules is projected to beat me, 152-118, but tragedy strikes and Jules’ team, in separate incidents, has 9 different players come down with SuperCovid just hours before the actual games start. I score 83 points, but he only manages 57 points. I win the championship with a record low score. Jules actually dies of fantasy related head explosion.
Sure, I could come up with a scenario where my team gets it together and I beat people by having high scores, but that’s not how I’m gonna do this year.
43 points from Kicker and Def.
You pray for a week or two of that scoring from one but to get it from both on the same week. Jeez.
Davante Adams was sick all week with flu-like symptoms. He was questionable, but it was declared that he would play late yesterday, I decided not to second guess it and just play him. Oops
Had I swapped in AJ Brown like I had thought I would be forced to, I would have shattered the all-time scoring record. That is with under 2 points from my starting QB and 0 from my kicker, and a half of a game from Diggs. Pretty magical Sunday, for everyone except the Raiders.
One down …
This week really kind of sums up my season. Omni scored over 100 for just the second time all year to beat me by one point.
