We’ve had expanded IR slots for Covid, I expect without them, we will see more D/ST being dropped as the roster space is needed for one week bye replacements and one can’t roster 4 D/STs.
I’m slightly surprised that this trade didn’t generate a single comment…not sure how to interpret that. Lol.
I didn’t recognize the names, at least not Andrews or Kmet. Checking a random dynasty ranking site now (fantasyfootballcalculator) I’m seeing:
Andrews is the #2 ranked TE (nice)
Julio Jones isn’t in the top 130 WRs (is he that old?)
Travis Etienne is the #18 ranked RB
Kmet is the #14 ranked TE plus homer value
So really all I’m seeing is Andrews for Etienne, which seems about right to me. Tight ends are a notorious bottleneck in this league. Not that RB2s grow on trees, but still. A solid RB2 for a top TE…I dunno, is that bad?
Etienne isn’t exactly a proven commodity, but definitely worth the gamble. Are you saying he’s that much more valuable than Andrews?
EDIT: Then again, I wouldn’t trade Kelce for Etienne straight up. But that’s because I don’t have another TE but I do have an RB2. Age-wise it would be smart. Holy shit, with Rodgers as my QB I just realized how old my team is now.
KeepTradeCut also lists is perfectly balanced.
I guess nobody has much faith in Julio Jones anymore. And Etienne is a big question mark. So it got a “Sure, why not?” from me.
Yeah on my phone I couldn’t figure out how to do a search in those rankings, so I had to manually check all 130 names. I must have done that four times at least because I was so surprised Julio Jones wasn’t on the list. Friggin’ Sterling Shepard is listed at 87. Julio Jones can’t crack the top 130?
EDIT: I just realized Omni’s the one that brought it up. How do you think you did? Big dropoff for you at TE, but you get to start/root for your guy, and Etienne could actually be solid.
No, I think it’s a fair trade, didn’t expect any controversy. But I thought it would be considered a significant one. Etienne is basically a redshirt rookie RB with early/mid-first round upside, he might have been the 2nd overall pick if healthy last year. Andrews is the 2nd ranked TE.
I’m happy with it. I’m rebuilding and my RB corps is very uncertain, so getting a guy like Etienne who’s in a “buy low” phase of his career is intriguing. Losing Andrews is painful and he has many years of upside left, but my team is going nowhere now so I’m selling off assets. Kmet with a hopefully more competent coaching staff, maturing QB and little competition for targets could have an explosive year 2. Jones I think will have a nice bounce back season in Tampa but as the 3rd option and a guy close to retirement he’s not helping me at this point.
Yeah Andrews totally went under my radar. And it’s not like he’s super young; this is his fifth season. I guess it shows how little I’ve paid attention to tight ends having had Kelce the past few years.
But yeah, I like it from your perspective, and would also be willing to gamble with Kmet while trying to hopefully establish a solid starting RB. I also like it for Jules, or for anyone other than Beef in his position, because the #2 overall TE is quite a get in this league. (Beef having Pitts, IIRC.)
I think people are desensitized to my bullshit at this point. I don’t know that there is a trade I can make which would surprise anyone anymore.
I was pleasantly surprised by how well the trade came together because it’s very balanced and meets our teams’ needs so perfectly. I’m looking for upgrades to my starting roster at this point. Trading my reserves for upgrades at starting spots was my offseason strategy this year. I’ll go into a bit more detail about my goals this year when I do my team review after the draft.
TEs usually take much longer to develop. Andrews finally truly broke out last year, but he’s only 26. Kelce, Kittle, Waller, and Dallas Goedert (somehow) are all older. I was surprised Andrews was available
Wait, didn’t I trade you Hockenson? Is he now your backup TE? I didn’t like having him as my backup TE. It felt like wasted value to me.
I have finally gotten to the point where I have starters at every position, possibly for the first time ever. Even in my championship run I didn’t have an RB2.
The problem for me is I have no bye week backups. That’s the next project to work on, while hopefully finding my next generation QB and TE sometime soon.
You did trade me Hockenson. I mentioned I wanted to trade my reserves for starting upgrades, but Mark Andrews is a slightly special case. He may have had a mega-outlier year last season, so there is some risk that was a one-year wonder and he will regress. Nobody seems to talk about it or be concerned, but that is absolutely possible. If I ended up buying high and he disappoints, I really wanted Hockenson in reserve just in case.
That’s not a bad idea.
I do have some of those on accident, in rare occasions. Of course I’ll probably end up trading him and forget my strategy in a fit of tradelust
I usually like to chew on trades for a little while before I comment and I think it got lost in a flurry of activity and I forgot to go back. It’s hard for me to evaluate because I haven’t been keeping up with the career of Kmet. Tight ends are the slowest developers out of any fantasy position and he’s super young so I have no idea how well he’s going to replace Andrews. The trade sites are all over the place on this deal mostly because of the value of Kmet. KTC says he’s worth half of Andrews, which makes the deal favor Omni, but dynastyprocess say it’s more like 1/8th and gives Jules a clear win.
I somehow missed how big a season Mark Andrews had last year. I know I tried to trade for him at some point either early last year or the year before. 1300 yards is a HUGE season for a TE and Andrews is 26, which is still very young for a TE.
I’m not sure if Omni is being a little bit of a homer with Kmet or he has the inside track on knowing about him and expects him to develop into a top 6ish TE long term. Etienne should probably be pretty solid, but given the scarcity at the TE position I’d have hung onto the proven star. Andrews will probably regress this year because he was all they had on offense last year, but with my guys Dobbins and Bateman getting like 97 TDs each there won’t be as much forcefeeding to him.
Overall I like this deal for Jules because he got the solid proven star at a scarce position, but the ceilings of Kmet and Etienne are unknown and it could end up going either way.
@dalej42 Dale and @Ol_Gaffer both checked into the thread a while back and both indicated they’re in for this year, but they haven’t submitted a cut list and they’re due in a few hours. I sent PMs and e-mails as a reminder.
I’ll have my cuts posted tonight, 9 PM or so Chicago time
I’m curious how Etienne holds up a year after a Lisfranc injury. This would have been a bigger deal for a RB ten years ago.
I mean, Cam Akers came back from a ruptured Achilles. Apparently the NFL medical teams have added miracles to their list of treatments.
I had a LOT of injuries last year.

So we’ve never had anyone late to turn in a cuts list that I can recall. It is obviously extremely unlikely that anyone in the first round is considering drafting anyone that Gaffer would’ve cut (or otherwise changed their draft plans based on Gaffer’s cut list), so it shouldn’t impact the start of the draft. I don’t recall if we have any sort of system in place for what happens if cut lists aren’t received in time. But as I don’t think it will hurt anything and I don’t think he’s gaming the system in any way, I’m inclined to just start the draft as planned and hopefully Gaffer will have his cuts in within a couple of days.
