I admit it, I’m seriously jealous of the Dez Bryant pick. I didn’t think he was going to fall to me at #9, but when no one picked him through the first six rounds I thought I had a chance. And then I passed on Mike Williams because every rookie ranking sheet I could find put Golden Tate ahead of him. Tate’ll be good someday, but Mike Williams is good now.
Austin Collie, Matthew Stafford, Matt Hasselback, Jeremy Shockey, Ryan Grant, Steve Smith, . The worst place for an NFL player to be is on my roster.
This just doesn’t seem like a rational way to manage a dynasty league team to me. You have 25 roster spots in part to wait for talent like that to developer. Did James Jones ever have the job to lose? Driver has been around and productive for a long time, and Greg Jennings was drafted a year before him. I don’t remember James Jones starting his rookie year. He was always drafted to be the #3 receiver because there was already talent ahead of him. He’s taken a few years to mature (like most WR prospects) and how some of that talent is getting ready to move off to the side.
Does it bug you at all that he’s put up over 100 yards in 2 of the 3 games he’s played after you dropped him?
I’m willing to drop the argument btw and just accept that we’re looking at this in totally different ways, cause it just seems like our way of looking at prospects in a dynasty league is incompatable. I’m not trying to generate bad blood in a protracted argument or anything.
But I might mention it when James Jones puts up 900 yards next year
Edit: That does somewhat depend on Driver retiring or at least getting his role reduced, but that seems likely given age and health.
Bite your tongue!
This is his first major injury in ten years, so I’m hoping he’s able to bounce back and give me one more productive season.
I can’t believe James freakin Jones has sparked this much debate.
Exactly as much as it should bother you that he put up a big fat goose-egg in the other one.
How about this: After every week, if Jones stinks up the joint I’ll come to the thread a post a big giant douchey “James Frickin’ Jones!!!” and when he miracles into good performances you do the same.
Do you think a bad performance by the #3 receiver on a team is a noteworthy event? I guess I should’ve cut Andre Johnson in the auction league for those stinkers he put up early in the season.
You kept Chambers, Spurlock, etc. over James Jones. Just the last 3 weeks weeks alone are more production than those guys will have in 2 years even with a 0. There is no way you can come out of this situation looking like a good prognosticator.
Anyway, no, you’re wrong. 2 out of 3 100-yard performances are more significant as an indicator of performance than being shut out once against one of the best defenses in the league in a game where his team only managed 9 points.
Jesus fucking Christ, you’re like a dog with a bone. I DON’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT JAMES JONES. I will never feel an iota of regret for releasing him, nor will I ever think you’re some kind of super genius for signing him.
I don’t care that much about James Jones either. I think your reasoning and arguments have ranged from faulty to nonsensical, and if you keep making them, I’ll keep responding.
Trade deadline is Friday. I wouldn’t mind extending it a week or two, but I know most people aren’t open to the idea.
At 3-6, my season is pretty much over. So if anyone is in need of a QB for the stretch run (or Donald Driver or Willis McGahee), we should talk.
I’m very interested in possessing Vick, take a look at my team and PM me some guys you like?
I’m definitely in the market for a RB and you’ve got four top flight options. I’m gonna think about who I really want and get back to you (unless there’s someone that’s definitely off limits or you definitely want to get rid of).
At 3 games back in the wild card race (and hell, only one game above last place) it looks like I won’t have an opportunity to defend my crown. So fire sale here too, especially on my wideouts.
That’s weird, I thought I had set the trade deadline for as late as possible, like it was last year. I wouldn’t want it that late for most leagues, but here even contenders and bottom dwellers have a legitimate reason to be trading with each other prior to the end of the regular season, and dumping players is no more of a concern than it would be at the start of the season, since we have to live with these teams going forward.
Anyway, I fixed it: the new deadline is December 3rd (the Friday prior to Week 13).
I’m (Warner’s Brothers) also a seller this year. Everyone but Drew Brees is available.
Good idea.
My team would be pretty good if I had bothered to handcuff my players. I would have McCoy/Foster/Hillis filling my three RB-eligible spots.
Doubtful. Foster was fourth on the team in rushing last season, behind Ryan Moats and Chris Brown (along with Slaton). He was the only one who averaged over 4 YPA, though.
Yeah, I guess Foster wasn’t the totally obvious pickup, but he did start 1 or 2 games and run like crazy. He definitely had the most upside of any of the Houston backs.
I don’t really have an excuse for Hillis because I habitually snatch up the whole Cleveland running depth chart anyway. I guess I was finally convinced that after Harrison ran for 600 yards in 4 games at the end of last year, they’d finally be forced to give him a chance. So even though Hillis looked like a beast in preseason, I was confident Harrison was the guy to have. So I drafted every damn Cleveland back except the one to own…
