I hope you get well soon, best of luck.
Very sorry to hear that, Hermit. Best of luck with the waiting list, and let us know if you get good news in that direction.
In the meantime, I’ll remove your team from the league and give **Omni **an invite.
My thoughts are with you and your family THM.
Glad you’ll still be in the Keeper league, Hermit. You’re in my prayers.
Get better. I’ll do my best to shepherd your boys through this challenging time and keep the seat nice and warm for you.
Also, would you guys mind giving me a quick 10¢ tour of the rules and a general idea of how deep most of you are going with your keepers? I think I have an idea, but as this is a first for me I’m not sure where the cutoff ought to be on keepers.
My guess is that most teams are cutting 1-4 players. I would only cut guys who are free agents or stuck in depth chart hell.
We’re all thinking of you Hermit.
And (I’ll admit it) I cut seven guys. Two retirees, a trio stuck at the very bottom of the depth chart and two flyers just to see what’s out there in rounds six and seven.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Hermit.
Omni, we’re all in the same boat as you, never having done this before. I personally am cutting six players, two of whom are no longer even listed in yahoo.
My criteria was pretty simple: Everyone I wasn’t 100% definitely keeping, I checked their projected season total in yahoo. I cut everyone below 30, I think. IIRC, I had nobody with a projected total between 22 and like 60, so the cutoff was pretty easy to decide. A couple had zeros, (?!), and as I said above two were no longer even listed in yahoo so they couldn’t be set as keepers anyway.
(I did hold on to homer pick Ramses Barden despite his IMO accurate projection of 16 or 17. He’ll never get on the field, but damnit I like him.)
Don’t worry about it too much, Omni. You’re in my division, so it’s not like you’re making the playoffs anyway.
Is the league page accurate in saying that the draft order will be random?
Draft order is in the OP! You have the 3rd pick.
Even though my team sucked, I’m having a hard time finding anyone to cut - my team was built full of sleepers and potential and there’s only one clear cut on the whole list.
Nah. I think Aaron Rodgers will really turn it around and have a good year this year. You just might want to keep him.
I thought he meant Josh Cribbs.
So far I have 10 out of 12 cut lists; the only exceptions are **Petey **and Omni; I’ll email a reminder to Petey, who hasn’t been around much this offseason.
The rules are pretty straightforward. It’s like a keeper league, except you keep as many players as you like, and those keepers are tacked on to the end of your draft; so if you keep 21 out of 25 players, you get draft picks in Rounds 1-4, then your picks in Rounds 5-25 are used to “draft” your players from last year. You can trade the rights to your players during (much of ) the offseason, indluding right now, as well as your picks in the upcoming draft. Any player on your roster at the end of the season is eligible to be kept the next year.
We use a Free Agent Acquisition Budget for waiver wire players; the champion will start with $100, the runner up with $102, and so on down to the last place finisher.
The draft isn’t serpentine: the last place team picks first, and also 13th, and 25th, etc.
The trade deadline is unusually late.
That’s about it; in other ways, the rules are no different than a typical league. (Am I forgetting anything?)
Remember to get your cut list to me within the next 22 hours.
ETA: Oh, and we have divisions. The three division winner and one wild card advance to the playoffs. Going forward, we’ll either keep the divisions as they were last year (arranged roughly geographically according to owner), or split up the three strongest teams into their own divisions every year, or clump the strongest and weakest teams together this year, then move the top teams teams up and the bottom teams down each subsequent year in a relegation system. Figure out your order of preference and weigh in.
Not for Omni, but IIRC you manually edited the schedule so that we each play our division rivals twice and everyone else once.
Right, we’ll do that again, of course.
Ok, I have everyone’s cut lists, though of course you still have another few hours to make any changes. I’ll get to inputting the keeper info shortly after the deadline passes. Let’s say the trade deadline is Sunday (draft day) at Noon.
For anyone looking for more draft picks. I’ll consider any and all offers for any of my picks.
Er… how many picks will you have?
