Awesome — thanks, Ellis!
Very interesting to see Derek Anderson available. I’m going to be watching the Cards game tonight and I’ll be watching Anderson closely. There will be tough decisions to make drafting quarterbacks this year.
My pleasure. Based on the timestamps of the input and output text files, it took me 30 minutes to write the 81 lines of code in the converter. Much easier than trying to manually format it.
If anyone wants the spreadsheet version, email me and I’ll shoot it over. The advantage of that is you can order the players however you like, like all in one list instead of broken out by position. (Note that it’s actually a tab-delimited text file, which spreadsheet programs like Excel can read natively.)
Not if you’ve already got three decent ones.
Carson Palmer is on the block, by the way. I’m not married to Schaub, either, but it would take a hell of a lot to get me to part with him.
I’m assuming you mean the executioner’s block. Otherwise this sentence makes no sense. I mean, to purposely trade for Carson Palmer? Who would do such a thing?
OK, perhaps that was a bit hasty. I just realized that McNabb and Orton both have a bye the same week.
If you’re interested in picks we can definitely work something out. Also, Michael Vick is up for grabs to whoever feels like giving me more than $3.50 for him.
In case RNATB doesn’t pop on soon, I wanted to post that we worked out a trade agreement. I’m going to send him Bernard Scott (RB) and Zach Miller (TE) for Jermichael Finley.
What I think would happen is that Miller would get swapped for Finley in the keeper list, RNATB would keep Bernard Scott as his 4th round (4.12) pick, and since I’d have an empty slot, I’d gain pick 4.1 (you could move Aaron Rodgers, the current occupant of 4.1, to whatever spot is vacated by Scott, it all evens out)
Is that correct?
I’m a little worried that this one could make me look stupid. Cedric Benson sucks and that’s going to catch up to him one day. I think Scott may end up being the primary Bengals RB for years. Even Miller is going to be pretty good with non-garbage QBing, so I’m not confident Finley will be a huge upgrade.
On the other hand, there’s probably no TE in the league I want for the long haul more than Finley, so I’m gonna roll the dice and hope I’m not giving up gold in Scott.
Yeah, shouldn’t be too hard to square away on the Yahoo page.

What he said. Finley is way overrated.
Justin, are those 3 *actual *dollars? 'Cause I’ll give you infinity Monopoly dollars for him.

I’m fairly confident Finley will be a top 3 TE in the next 4 years, and maybe the most desirable fantasy TE in the league right now. However, I’m not feeling too good about giving up Scott - I may look back in this in 2 years when Cedric Benson died of autoerotic asphyxiation and Scott is putting up 1800 combined yards and kick myself in the dick.
Then again, maybe Benson really has his shit straight. He’s young still. That would put Scott in 3rd down back/injury insurance territory, in which case it’s a good deal.
Yeah, RNATB is probably getting the best of this deal. I’m sort of transfixed by the idea of possibly getting the #1 dynasty tight end. But Zach Miller isn’t chopped liver - he put up almost 900 yards with JaMarcus Russel, he’ll be a good one.
I definitely wouldn’t have made the trade if I didn’t know how much Jason Campbell liked throwing to tight ends.
Maybe Finley turns into a 80/1000/10 guy year in and year out… and maybe he doesn’t. In the meantime, I’ll take Miller’s 65/800/5 and my #2 tailback’s handcuff, especially since I already have Owen Daniels, who posted 40 catches, 500 yards and 5 TDs in exactly half a season last year.
All set.
Ok, I’m going to bed. We have to decide on divisions before the draft, so if anyone has anything else to add, now’s the time.
Did you already change the divisions? I notice I’m now in the scrotty Sunbelt division instead of the prestigious Northeast Corridor. heh.

I got moved to the Sunbelt too. As did We Do HGH.
There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the current divisional alignment. Unless I’m missing it.
I assume he hasn’t bothered to correct the divisions (like they were last year) since we were debating on whether to change them anyway.
Right, either they landed that way when we first signed up, or we got reshuffled when we swapped out Hermit for Omni. I never bothered to look at them since we were still deciding.
The divisions just don’t look that unbalanced to me, so I think we should see how keeping the same divisions pans out in year 2. I am in the toughest division too so it’s not like this helps me, but I like the idea of building rivalries and evaluating your team against the peers in your division.

Agreed. I was very worried about parity when we created this league, but everybody is pretty evenly matched. Shuffling teams around would just ruin that.
