LHoD and I have no problem(s) between us. We both respected the position of the other, yet we disagreed on a timing issue. Neither of us intended to cause a problem for the board, staff, guests or members, but that’s what happened. I regret any inconvenience or confusion that this have caused anyone. LHoD and I have exchanged PMs and I’m sure LHoD feels the same as I do.
I assure you, this did not escape mod attention, but more than that I am not free to say.
You have to wait for the audit to be over, I guess?
Far as I can tell, some like starting a thread so people can talk about the debate beforehand; however, that means an awful lot of posts to zip past once the actual debate occurs.
So why not just start a “Pre-Debate Talk” thread, and wait until the night of the debate to start the “Live Debate Chat” thread?
It’s a preposterous point. If Trump dropped out now it’s doubtful the Republican Party could even agree on a nominee for two weeks and when they did agree on one his name wouldn’t be on most ballots. It would look like a complete and total clusterfuck. No votes would be gained and Trump loyalists would stay home. The election would be a slaughter of historic proportions.
The GOP is stuck with Trumo and, pathetically, he is the best chance they have.
Losing a debate 57 to 34 - with The STRONG CAVEAT that we could use more true polls to back it up - is a huge, huge loss in a Presidential debate. Most are very close.
That he lost it by less than the first one is not good for him. It’s terrible. He needed to win both remaining debates to realistically have a chance of winning.
Also, 63% thought that Trump did better than expected. (I did too.) But he did better than most people expected just by not leaving a smoking hole in the ground.
And what does it say about the current Republican party that this is who a large portion of their base wants? I know that it’s partly due to the spoiler effect early in the primary, but I think there’s more to it than that. There had to be a sizable group supporting him from the beginning.
Amazingly sleazy! Trump wanted to put Bill Clinton’s accusers in his family box in order to be closer to Bill and more prominently featured. Officials stopped it at the last minute. Was this the presidential debate or Wrestlemania?
Any thoughts about the audience? What is the point of having one if they are not supposed to applaud or audibly react during the debate through applause, laughter, etc.?
I was surprised by the level of cheering and applause at Trump’s “because you’d be in jail” quip and a little confused by the level of laughter (maybe including from Trump supporters?) at Trump’s reference of himself as a gentleman when insisting that Hillary answer a question first, since it was unclear if Trump meant for it to be a laugh-line or not. Probably not, since he’s not exactly a self-deprecatory kind of guy.
CNN.com’s post-debate gaggle of analysts in the “Who won?” article unanimously said Trump lost, to a greater or lesser degree depending on their political leanings. Even SE Cupp panned his performance. I can’t remember another time there was such a clean sweep.
And you don’t find what Bill Clinton did to be sleazier by several orders of magnitude? There’s a hell of a lot more credible evidence of his sexual assaults than there’s ever been with Bill Cosby, but look who gets raked over the coals! (Hint: it isn’t the big time Democrat politician.)
