With Monopoly coming out in various themed editions (Star Wars, NFL, Corvette, Looney Toons, etc) it’s only a matter of time before they decide to tap the SDMB crowd. So it’s time we get our ideas out there.

I’m going to assign Cecil Adams and Ed Zotti to Boardwalk and Park Place respectively. And because I started the thread Mediterranean Ave is now Little Nemo (I’m modest).

All of the other properties are available. You can nominate yourself or someone else for a specific square with an explanation of why they should be there. Or you can nominate a group of three to fill a specific color.

Railroads, utilities, other squares, and tokens will also be needed.

I want to be Oriental Avenue.

First of all, it’s my favourite avenue. Whenever I am playing Monopoly, I just want to buy it. I have no idea, why. In my opinion, it’s key to winning the game. But as I am so content once I bought it, I never win…

Second, it’s like me on the SDMB. Mostly unnoticed, but solid.

Third, I look good in light blue.

Instead of “Prison”, we will have “The Pits”. When players visit “The Pit”, it called a “Pile On”.

“No Parking” could be “Meaningless Thing Which I must Share”. Players ending on this corner must share one meaningless thing.

Two cards shall read, “Go straight to the pit. Do not pass by the straight dope, do not collect 200 posts.”

Instead of “Community” cards, we shall have dope cards.

Instead of buying properties, players ‘post’ threads using ‘post counts’.

Instead of railroads, take the four Mods who move threads around the most and given them those spaces. :smiley:

I was going to suggest replacing the railroads with SDMB boards. But I like Freyr’s and LostCause’s ideas better.

Accordingly, the “Go to Jail” space becomes “Get Pitted.”

It’s almost too easy to suggest replacing the Chance cards with Jonathan Chance.

Tokens, tokens… A slug, a newspaper, a Bible, a pie (with a piece cut out), a BBQ grill, a poll, a TV, and “Hi Opal!”

Instead of mortgaging properties, you “Ban” them.

There should be some kind of “lurker” token, too, but I have no ideas for it. Pair of eyes, maybe? Dark cloak?

For the Water Works how about Staff Columns?

And in the community chest cards:

“The Perfect Master responds to your OP. All contributing Members are in awe of you for one round! Collect $10/per player.”

and…

“TubaDiva approves your Weird Earl link. Collect $25. from any Mods/Admins playing.”

Other Chance cards could be

You asked the -gry question. Lose one turn.
You asked the driveway/parkway question go back three spaces.
You posted in the wrong forum pay $100.
You get caught up in a PC/Mac thread lose one turn.

Also when you run out of money you don’t go broke you get banned.

The tokens should be shaped like the mod’s names.

When you pass Go! (which would be the homepage of course) you get a post-party.

This is a cool thread (have I said I love monopoly in a way that is quite beneficial for Ebay?)

Can I be a light purple instead (The two darks are taken)? I can be tanookie avenue :slight_smile: Purple’s my favorite color!!

Dibs on Pennsylvania Avenue! (I really wanted the railroad…)

Since there are other notable PA residents on the board, I would invite them to sit on the Pennsylvania Avenue Zoning Committee. I would be the chairman, naturally.

No one has addressed development of properties, i. e. building houses and hotels. How would each of us build them? Where do we get the money? Who, after all, is actually playing the game?
