Well I had a 50/50 chance…
Now that the competition is over, I need to ask some advice. I submit my photos using Google Photos. A couple of times, I have submitted photos in portrait mode, and the photo preview in the thread only shows about the top quarter to third of the photo, and what I really want people to see is nowhere to be seen (unless you click through, which I suspect most people don’t). I see other people who seem to successfully post photos in portrait mode, so am I doing something wrong or do I just need to find a different photo host?
I use google photos too and it does just the same to me. Heigh ho.

Looks like I got three whole votes! That’s very gratifying. Thank you to whoever those came from. There were a lot of sunrise/sunset pics (I was saving mine for that theme if it ever came up) so it’s nice to know mine resonated with someone.

Birds are tough subjects. Like you, I’ve taken many over the years, from raptors to waterfowl. Few of them would be worthy of posting.
That’s a common sight on the African plains. I have several similar images.
Inspired by the weather recently, I’m going with “Hot” for this month’s theme.

And MMM’s wish to keep this contest PG blows some poster’s ambitions for this subject right out of the water, 
Indeed, when I took that photo I was consciously attempting to take the “classic” Serengeti sunset photo.
Having never been there, it is new to me 
I forgot to comment on the other two photos I voted for: Spiderman’s and Doginnit’s. I love Spiderman’s vibrant colors, and I think the composition is great, too. Dogginnit’s photo just has great movement to it, it looks like the clouds are just spilling out across the sky. And the mist is pretty cool, too.
(Wildabeast’s winner was my other vote).
But there were lots of others I could have voted for, too. Great month!
Whereas I was most impressed with @beowulff 's, which looked like a painting.
Yeah, that’s another excellent one.
It’s a great place for a photographer, for sure. I would have killed for the cameras of today that can shoot both still and video. As it was, I got some great stills with my old Nikon N70 and a 200mm zoom.
