Yes, seconded!
Hi everyone. Just a reminder that voting closes at 9pm UK time tonight (just over 6 hours from now). At the time of writing, we have a three way tie - so every vote counts.
Hi everyone. Confession time - I had something come up last night and this completely slipped my mind. I’m really sorry. The competition closed at 9pm my time last night.
I can see that @Dogginit has the most votes. It was tied last time I looked. I should have locked the poll last night, but I didn’t and I didn’t check to see what the state of play was at that point.
If no-one PMs me in the next 24 hours to say that they voted after the deadline then I’ll award the to @Dogginit
Sorry, especially to those at the top of the leaderboard.
You’re a hero for organising these competitions so don’t beat yourself up about it!
Ditto. Thanks for running these contests. In your honor, I had Microsoft Bing Image Creator generate an AI LEGO set for you:
Thanks @Fiendish_Astronaut and @Karen_Lingel.
I haven’t had any confirmed reports of any votes coming in after the deadline… so I’m calling it.
Congratulations @Dogginit! As always, as the winner, you get to choose the next theme - there’s some guidance in the first post of this thread as to what makes a good theme. Please PM me when you’ve picked your theme.
It was another month of great photos which really captured an interesting and slightly more abstract theme. Great work everyone and I’m looking forward to the next month!
Wow, that’s amazing! Thank you so much, I love it.
With your permission, that’s my new avatar right there.
Not exactly how I pictured the carrot arrangement, but that is pretty cool nonetheless.
mmm
Morris & Nugget are taking their bows now All of the photos this month were great, don’t know how we made it to the top. Thanks for a fun diversion, I’ve needed it this last week and a half, for sure.
Hear, hear. But I think a picture of him grasping his carrot with both hands in the imagined way would have been in poor taste for an avitar.
You’re not claiming that his hands are small, are you?
The image creator creates 4 images for you to choose from. Three of them were of a snowman holding two carrots and one was of two snowmen holding the same carrot. None of the noses was counted as a carrot by the AI!
I am not sure I hold copyright on the images generated by AI at my behest, but I hereby grant you unlimited use of whatever license I have to give.
Did you see the size of those carrots? As they say, it takes two hands to handle a whopper.
A judge in the USA ruled that copyright claims only apply to works created by humans, so your image can be used by TwoCarrotSnowman or anyone else. As I read the article, it is public domain:
So congratulations, TwoCarrotSnowman, you have a customized avatar, why have you not uploaded the image yet? Should you need a lower resolution, I can do that and post it here, no problem.
Hi all,
Sorry for the radio silence - things have been a bit crazy here and I have been neglecting my duties!
But before donning the hair shirt, it’s my pleasure to announce that the January thread is up. The topic, chosen by @Dogginit, is “bugs” which can be interpreted as widely as you like - if it crawls, buzzes, creeps or, well, looks like a bug, then it is for the purposes of this competition (and that doesn’t include any more leftfield interpretations, which as always are very welcome).
Oh boy! I didn’t want to say anything but I was getting anxious.
This is a challenging topic, for more than one reason.
Looking forward to Dung-Beetle’s selfie.
mmm
Oh no, that wouldn’t be fair!
Here are a couple of other images of my hummingbird moth - I submitted the close-up, and these are as fuzzy due to it’s speed, but give additional context - the one has it’s cute face!:

I don’t know why a black and blue butterfly would be called a Red Spotted Purple, but that’s what the internet told me so it must be true!
