I put the nickel in the fridge for a few minutes.
Nice pic! Macro lens is the one thing I don’t have for my Nikon, and phone doesn’t do macro well at all.
It really is a wonderful photo! Well done!
That photo used an old Practika 35mm SLR , 55mm 1.9 with 3 extension tubes. I was playing with thin emulsion high resolution BW film. It is really low contrast so printing took a some effort.
@Twoflower’s image isn’t showing up for me, either. I suspect the permissions are set to “private” or some such thing.
No issues for me, I’m using a fairly new Dell laptop, Windows OS.
I can see it, too.
And I can’t see it. I’m on a Samsung tablet
I can see it.
I have been able to see it always.
Trying to post a single pic from Google photos is a pain. It really wants to post a whole album, not just one picture. I think I have it down posting from the computer, but still having problems with the iPad.
If SDMB really wants to host a photo contest, then really, it should allow images to be hosted on itself, as nearly all other modern message boards now do, regardless of any degree to which they may or may not be photography-oriented.
The manner of using externally-hosted images on this forum is particularly clunky, and really not well-suited for this purpose.
I can see it.
And hosting pictures is expensive
I can see @Twoflower 's redwood (beat me to the punch!). I need to sort thru some of my redwood pics to see if I can find one as good!
Edit: I can see it here and in the competition thread.
As a minor annoyance, apparently my workplace firewall has recently decided to block everything from Imgur. So when I view the competition thread from work I see a few photos and a bunch of empty posts. I have to view the thread from my personal laptop to see the photos.
But I can still see Twoflower’s redwood photo. Our IT department thinks Google Photos is fine, I guess.
Just posted in the comp thread: Mosque/Cathedral at Cordoba. As background, it was built as a colossal mosque during the Islamic occupation of Andalusia, and subsequently converted to a cathedral (linky) - but the space is so huge that the cathedral bits only occupy maybe a third of the space.
As an aside, I had two very different photos to choose from - this is the other: flamenco fans large and small, a shop window in Sevilla. Click on the picture for the full image
Torn between the two, and because they are so very different, I asked a few friends which was better - and everyone (apart from me) prefers the mosque. Maybe I’m just no judge. Anyway, mosque it is.

I agree with your friends. Unfortunately, the price stickers detract from the fans’ beauty
Now I can’t see @Twoflower’s first redwood picture, but I can see the second one! Weird.
