Yes, that must be Dolania americana, from the Behningiidae family. Like all mayflies she belongs to the order of the ephemeroptera, which is such a fitting and beautiful name.
Hi everyone, I haven’t been terribly present here since Christmas but it’s nice to see the competition thread is humming along nicely.
Just a reminder that the deadline for submissions is 9pm UK time today (about 8 hours from now).
Did you mean “buzzing” along nicely?
Let’s pretend that’s what I meant!
The poll is up in the competition thread.
I considered using this picture, because it was a really impressive bug
Note that the board may be having Discourse Issues, so write down your votes in case two-thirds of them vanish again…
PS, I like how the footer has the “This is a Header” paragraph!
It did not record my third vote
Thanks @Karen_Lingel
The problem last time was exacerbated last time by me accidentally missing my own deadline, so we didn’t know what the official closing position was. I’ll make sure I close it on time this time.
Hi all, the poll closes in just over an hour.
And that’s it! Another competition crawls, slithers and creeps to the end.
We have a draw! Congratulations to @Galactus and @Zyada who share the honours this month. Please decide amongst yourselves what you’d like for the next topic and let me know.
Thanks everyone - another great month.
Yes, congratulations! Both your bugs are very pretty.
@Galactus any ideas. I was thinking big or small
Thanks to all the folks that sent in pictures - we weren’t sure Bugs was going to work this time of year, but they were all good pics, was tough narrowing it down to 3 for voting.
It was a good month. Thanks for pickin a good theme @Dogginit
That sounds like a fun idea.
Great, that sounds like a consensus… so the next topic is “big or small”.
I’ll get the competition thread set up this evening.
Hi everyone, the new competition thread is up.
I like this theme - it allows for a wide range of interpretations. I might even use i as an excuse to get that macro lens I’ve been hankering after.
The Toad’s a retread from a year ago but it seemed to fit.
How’d you get the little critter to stay put on the coin long enough to take the photo?
