Can you give us some details on how you got such a spectacular shot
December afternoon at the airport for the Santa fly-in; we were doing our post-flight snacks/champagne, I realized what was coming so I walked away from the crowd & sat in an empty tie-down pad to get the right angle; he was coming in to land & was in the area of downwind-to-base turn so was low in the sky because of that.
The following plane actually went thru the sun but I liked the posted one better because he looked like he was about to land on the sun. Also got a T-6 doing a fly-by with smoke on, plus some of a new balloon & a cool one of a balloon framed in the triangle of a C-172. A good afternoon of shooting!

Would a photo depicting an animal in the air that doesn’t normally appear in such situations be acceptable? A leaping rhino*, perhaps?

As the judge topic chooser for this month I say yes. I specifically stated (non-human) animals & even called out a mammal (squirrel) as being acceptable.
yanno, at the right time of month, & at the right angle, I’m sure that picture exists. I just looked, it’ll work out well for that at next (2025) year’s AIBF.
