I just posted over in the comp thread - a picture of The Providence Chapel, which is tucked away on a tiny dirt road (we do have them!) in Charlwood, Surrey, right next door to Gatwick Airport (indeed, a second runway will probably obliterate the village.)
If it looks a little unusual for an English chapel, there’s a reason.
…during the Napoleonic Wars, a barracks existed in the Sussex market town of Horsham. A wooden guardroom was erected there in about 1797. After the war the barracks was decommissioned, and the timber guardroom was dismantled and transported on wagons to Charlwood. There the “strange [and] quaint” structure was re-erected in a field on a dirt track north of the village, and on 15 November 1816 it opened as an Independent Calvinistic Chapel…
I have never been inside it. There was an open day about a month ago, but exasperatingly I missed it because a friend was exhibiting paintings that day.

OK, now that I’ve had time to fully investigate…
I did previously enter the chair photo, but it did not win.
It was entered in the December, 2024 contest with the theme “Texture” (and only got a few votes).
The contest I did win was October, 2024 (“Moody/Atmospheric”), with a different photo.
Therefore, my original entry is actually eligible, as it has not won before.
I’m going to re-enter it in “Spooky”. Sorry for all the confusion!
