SDMB Oscar Voting: Best Cinematography

If you were an Academy member, which film would get your vote?

Lubezki. Finally.

That’s the problem–he should have several on his mantle already, but doesn’t, so when he wins this year, I can’t begrudge it, even though I don’t think he deserves it.

It has now come to a point where the Academy can’t distinguish photography from effects work: the last four years, the same film has won both categories (an unprecedented occurrence), where I’d argue that in most cases, it was a bad choice (even if the recipients were all undeniably talented people). And this year will be the same.

I just learned he has an Instagram account and it’s amazing. Username is “chivexp”

It was between Nebraska and Gravity for me but I voted for Gravity.

I very nearly voted for Gravity, but I decided in the end to distinguish between F/X and cinematography and went with Nebraska.

ETA: Those were the only two I’ve seen in this category, but I suspect my vote would have been the same.

I think it’s Gravity, no contest, even though I am distinguishing between effects and cinematography (I picked The Hobbit for the former).
