Any word on how many people have renewed their subscription to the board?
Are the numbers in line with what you guys were expecting?

Check back next week, okay?

As of Tuesday morning, Apr. 26, we had 4,700 subscribers, of whom 2,396 had expiration dates later than 4/28/05. As of now, the remaining 2,304 will see their subscriptions expire Thursday.
The 4700 – that’s all subscribers with a later expiration date, right? So people who signed up for the first time, say, last month, are in that group?
So we’re well under half for “charter members”?

I don’t know about anyone else, but to me this is shocking. I expected a much higher renewal rate.
I haven’t been online much recently, and I renewed quite some time before my subscription was to run out. How were members notified that their subscription was about to expire? (I apologize if this question is annoyingly redundant. I don’t have time to search through threads to find the answer. Sorry.)
Well renewed as close to the time limit on purpose… Today.
Well I got my renewal notice through an old email I barely use… I thought I’d already changed the SMDB email to my usual one. I think many might not be aware of the time limit.
Maybe post in the boards a bigger warning ?
The FAQ was posted in ATMB several weeks ago. An announcement linking to it is visible in all forums. There’s a notice in red with capital letters and exclamation points on our home page. We sent out an e-mail to all non-renewers last night, and will soon (if we haven’t already) send out a notice to all who registered as guests in the past year telling them about our limited-time lower rate. I’m not sure what else we can do short of going door to door, but I’m sure we’ll get complaints after the deadline passes that nobody TOLD me. If y’all can help spread the word we’d appreciate it.
Thanks for the update, Ed.
I haven’t yet renewed and I didn’t get an email. I don’t need one since I’m aware of the deadline, but I’m pretty sure I never got a reminder from the board. Maybe others haven’t either.
Must we have checked “Receive Email from Administrators” under User CP -> Edit Options in order to get the email?
Yes. We sent out a mailing to our entire list last year and evidently quite a few people reported us to their ISPs for spamming them - we got put on a lot of spam blocker lists, which played havoc with our regular business e-mail. This year we decided if you didn’t want e-mail from us, we weren’t going to send it to you.
For those dopers who decide not to return, we will miss them.
More Pie for the Rest of Us! Woo Hooooo!
Righto, just checking.
I don’t get why some people won’t renew. It’s only a few bucks. Even I can afford that.
I expect it isn’t just a matter of “can I afford this”.
I had/have “Receive Email from Administrators” checked and I never got any email. I renewed on April 14th, so maybe that’s why?
I don’t run any spam filters personally (I’m a masochist that way), but maybe you should examine the words used in the subject and body of the “renewal notice” email and make them less likely to trigger spam filters.

At least 4702 now.
I for one waited until yesterday, or two days ago? Don’t ask me why. But I betcha a lot are waiting til the last day or the second to last day, though there’s no true reason.
I can assure you there are many other reasons.
The Board went to pay-to-post? When did that happen?
