Last year, I started a SDMB Rotisserie Baseball league. I don’t know how the other players felt about it, but I enjoyed it and thought I would do it again for this year. It is a league for casual players and will not require that you spend a huge amount of time on it. I will describe it below, but if you wish to take part, please PM me and I will send you the link to the league and the password. It will require that you sign up on fleaflicker.com.
The league will use 5x5 rotisserie scoring. I am allowing up to 12 teams in the league. If fewer than that wish to participate, I will run the league with however many we have.

I am using fleaflicker.com because they allow a “slow” draft (also called an email draft). This means that there is not a time limit on making your picks and you will receive an email when it is your turn to pick. If the season gets close to starting and the draft is not finished, I will institute a time limit on picks and start making picks for tardy participants (based on some objective criteria). I wanted a slow draft because I wanted everyone to be able to draft their players, but finding a time when everyone could be online for a live draft would be difficult.

I am starting early so that we should be able to handle anyone that wants to participate. If some players may only be able to draft at a certain time of day, then the draft could take 3 or 4 weeks.

Here are the specifics for the league:

Categories:
Hitters: Average, Home Runs, Runs, RBI, Stolen Bases
Pitchers: Strikeouts, Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP (Walks and Hits per inning pitched)

Roster Requirements: 1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, 3 OF, 1 Utility Player, 2 Starting Pitchers, 2 Relief Pitchers, 3 other pitchers of either type. 5 Bench players. There is 1 DL spot.
Lineups are set weekly.

48 hour trade review period

Players are on waivers 48 hours after being dropped.

Waiver priority is reversed standings order and is reset weekly.

I’d be interested. I also have an off board friend who is a baseball fan, but has never played fantasy and I’m pretty sure he’d be interested as well.

I would like to play this year, along with my friend. We were both in last year’s league.

So far, I have had two people besides myself sign up and I have another 3 or 4 that have been sent invitations, so we still have plenty of room. If you want to join PM me your email address so I can invite you.

Since I ended up taking over the commish spot for the long-running SDMB fantasy baseball league “SDMB Big League” partway through the year last year, I got the notification from Yahoo! that it was time to renew it for this year. I’ve done so, and anyone who was in last year should get an e-mail to the address used to register inviting them back. If you’re interested in joining this one, message me and check on the separate thread I’ll be starting up for the details.

Bumping this again since spring training is starting and maybe more people are getting interested in baseball. We have 4 players actually signed up on fleaflicker so far. I have invited a couple more. I set the league up for 12 players, but I would like to have at least 8. If you haven’t tried fantasy baseball before but would like to try, this is an excellent league for you. Any experience level is welcome, though.

Well, no one else has signed up since my last post. It looks like there is not as much interest this year. I will give until Monday for anyone that would like to join, then I will make it a public league. If those of you already signed up do not want to participate because of that, that is fine. Just go to the league page and remove your team.

That said, anyone that would still like to join is welcome. Just PM me your email address, so I can send the invitation.

russian heel has joined and there are now five teams. I was going to change the league to “public” and to a “slow” draft, but I found that you cannot make the league public unless you schedule a live draft.

So, I would like to have at least one more team. If anyone else would like to join, please PM me the email address to send the invitation. I will also check with some friends and family.

I may be able to get at least one more participant, but I am going to start the draft (slow draft) tomorrow evening regardless of how many teams we have. If you know anyone that would like to participate, have them PM me.

I have started the draft. The Skylanders had first pick and picked Mike Trout. The next pick goes to TheOffice. The order after that will be myself, then The New York Pests, Team Left Shark, and finally the Philadelphia Snowball Chuckers.
