SDMB RPG First Adventure: Panic in Genoa!

Joseph nudges Giacomo with an elbow, jerks his head, and then moves around the edges of the group, towards the wounded elf.

I’ll be switching to inspire confidence and then casting grease to hit the two zombies threatening the elf.

I follow joseph, daggers drawn, pointedly not saying I told you so about the door.

And I’d actually gone with that battering ram thing *specifically *so you could go “don’t worry, I got it” in front of the whole group, too :smack:

I begin casting Summon Nature’s Ally II (replacing my Flaming Sphere spell)-a wolf.

I hand Zach his mace as i enter the room. I’m also going to rage and charge the Mage, but will attempt a grapple when I get there. This won’t be a power attack, as its not a damage check.

Charging the mage will provoke attacks of opportunity from the zombies. Do you intend to risk that?

A bomb at that mage if I can get it off before the fighters get in my way, otherwise Bomber’s Eye, as stated, and grenade whichever zombie I have the clearest shot at. If there really aren’t any, then the feral mutagen and go to hand-to-hand just in case Aji and the Viking think they have to do it all.

I’ll attempt an acrobatics check to avoid them.

Sorry, missed that bit. It’s actually “Hell !” in Norwegian, apparently :). I do wonder whether the “-vete” part has anything to do with the German “-wetter”, as in *Donnerwetter. *

That’s as may be, but you can count on Zachary to think it’s the Latin false cognate.

And that’ll be a stink bomb at that mage, if the shot is clear

Mage in Orange: 23
Marco Valente: 21
Giacomo: 19
Taye: 18
First Zombie (attacking Doge):15
Solsken: 14
Second Zombie (Guarding Mage): 14
Aji: 13
Third Zombie (Guarding Mage): 12
Zachary: 11
Fourth Zombie (Attacking Doge): 10
Harald: 9
Joseph: 8
Firth Zombie (Guarding Mage): 5
Doge Valente: 2

With a cry, Marco Valente leaps to his father’s aid. His short sword digs deep into the first zombie’s back.

Giacomo follows, both daggers flashing in the sunlight filtering in through the windows on the north and east corners of the room. Both daggers strike home, seeking out sensitive points in the zombie’s armor and digging deep in the flesh. The zombie collapses, red sparks pouring out of his eyes, nose, and mouth. He lies unmoving on the floor, seemingly as dead as the others.

Taye snarls a curse at the small, white-haired man, but the enemy twists his hands, catches the curse, and literally eats it.

Solsken mutters a few words under his breath, gestures at his right side, and a wolf, one of the harsh grey beasts that stalk the Northern forests begins to shimmer into existence. The wolf snarls as it begins to take form.

One zombie standing near the mage in orange robes rushes toward the remaining group members at the door. It lunges toward Aji, claw-like fingers grasping. Aji deflects the hands with two lightning-quick movements, and the zombie fails to injure him in any way. Aji takes advantage of the moment and with a loud grunt, draws on the many abuses of years past and enters his own rage. He ducks under the zombie’s outstretched hands, dives and rolls past the next zombie, and spins past the final zombie. He makes a final lunge at the flash of orange robes… and his fingers close on open air, as his enemy jumps backward out of the window, crashing through the glass. Aji comes up short against the windowsill, watching as a great orange bird plunges earthward before catching the air under his wings and soars off along the building to the west. The light in the room dims and changes direction; it’s still bright in the room, but no longer does sunlight pour directly in the windows.

Another zombie that had been guarding the orange mage lunges at Aji’s exposed back. His knuckles crunch against Aji’s chain shirt, but the blunt impact is still forceful enough to damage the Brute. 5 damage

Zachary’s hand darts into his voluminous pockets and pulls out a glass bottle. He deftly unstoppers it and quaffs the contents. Previously unseen muscles ripple under his clothes, and his hands curve into claws while his incisor teeth grow into veritable fangs. Zachary lunges at the downed zombie and attacks. His attacks fail to penetrate the zombie’s armor, however.

The zombie menacing the Doge turns to Marco Valente and lashes out with his arm, but Valente ducks the blow easily.

Harald, infuriated with the loss of his intended target, roars his displeasure and begins his full fury. He grows several feet, ignoring the straining protestations of his clothing and armor, and the floorboards creak under his increased weight. Harald hefts his axe as though it were a feather and charges the last zombie at the window. His axe cleaves the zombie clean in two, straight through the chest. With Enlarge, Rage, Power Attack, and Divine Favor all active, Harald does a ridiculous 3d6+14 damage with +10 to hit on a charge.

Joseph, seeing no good targets for his grease, pulls out his whip and snags a zombie’s arm just as the beast’s arm crashes down toward the Doge. The whip slips from Joseph’s hand, however, and is dragged across the room.

The Doge’s wounded leg finally gives way and he collapses to the floor.

First round. First and Fifth zombies dead, the mage has left the building. Any adjustments to the plan?

What.

Mild-mannered Zachary will continue to let his bestial side express itself against the zombies, ideally getting to the side of the Doge. That worthy is welcome to a Cure potion when I get there.

[My bird follows the mage discreetly for as long as she can do so safely and yeah discreetly. I won’t be activating my remote vision until after all of the zombies are toast, tho.]

Heh, Firth Zombie. He’s Scottish?

If he disappears into a building, she will show the way by indicating which window or door her used (so I don’t necessarily have to burn my 2nd vision call)…

Looking shaken Taye takes a step backwards. Latin is my second language.

“Deorum igne et vento iuvent! That is not possible! Valente, what foulness have you allowed into your house!”

Cast Magic Missile at the two zombies nearest the Doge.

ahem That’s 3d6+15 at +11 to hit after accounting for my inspire courage.

Joseph watches his whip flick away.

“Huh. I suppose that’s a good reason to carry two of those things around.”

With few other options, he draws his blade and moves to stand over the elf, hopefully providing a flanking bonus to Giacomo against the last zombie.

With a grunt of frustration, I backhand the zombie that just attacked me out of the way, and (assuming I kill it) move to help Valente. If I don’t drop the zombie, I’ll stay where I am and try again next round.

I move so the last zombie is between Joseph and me, and attack.

YOU FAT BASTARD, YOU LET HIM ESCAPE ! JUST YOU WAIT UNTIL I’M DONE WITH *THESE *BASTARDS ! AAAAAAGH !

No changes to the plan. Kill zombies, make money. Since target #1 has left the building, I’ll try and focus on the ones attacking the elf (although being able to full attack w/ claws takes priority over target choices). Unless I absolutely need it for reach purposes this turn I’ll shrink back to my regular size however, no need to waste and who knows ? Maybe the rest of the group didn’t see me do something completely heretickal just now.

Yeaaah, I can’t do too many things, but the things I do do ? They stay done :).
