SDMB RPG: The Rule of Three - Game Thread

*I’d say let’s go, folks. *

I don’t think this family can help us any further. Lets ride out now before the group with the injured person gets too far ahead.

“I agree with Cyrus we should catch up to them as soon as possible” Naimar said as he saddles up Lightning

The group mounts up outside the barn as evening approaches. The farmer and his wife are returning two cows from pasture as the party prepares to leave.

“Our thanks for your hospitality.” *Says Choke as the group rides past them.

Cutter grins down at the wife.* “Shame we have to go. I’d been hoping for more than eggs.” *The farmer and his wife don’t respond, their heads down as their guests leave.

Storm clouds are gathering in the sky this evening, but no rains come as the hours march on. The party makes good time and finally the woods thin, giving way to the Brayers highland, with the farmland Cutter spoke of a few miles ahead. Travel becomes difficult as at last the Sun begins to vanish over the horizon. Torches become necessary, with Naimar having the least trouble. Eventually the party passes over the crest of a hill overlooking a gentle valley. Down in the valley’s pit is a ring of half a dozen flickering dots; firelight.

Cutter immediately bids the party to snuff their lights and return over the hill lest they be spotted.

Choke whispers a warning to Cutter in the darkness as the latter unsheathes his sword.* “It might not be them.”

“We’ll find out, won’t we?” He dismounts and hands the reigns to Choke. “What’s the plan?”

“I see a campfire in the center of a torchline that’s been set up around the camp. There are six people, four of them laying down. I can’t tell if its them, and there are six horses just north of the camp.” Naimar explained as he prepared for a fight.

To Walter: “I want to know what we’re up against. Can you scout the group without being spotted? We need to know whether Lady Ironhall is with them.”

Meanwhile, I’ll leave Brute with Choke, and tell him to wait for us out of sight. I don’t want Brute to give away our position.

To everyone: “I could investigate. I’m not amazing at this kind of thing, but I could give it a shot. Or go with someone if you would like. I’m not great in a fight, though. I’m willing though, to help.”

:Sohan smiles at everyone:

Cutter scoffs. “Leave the fightin’ to the men, huh? If you really want to play war you can light up with that bow just before the scrap. But so help me if I get an arrow in my ass I’ll shove it down your throat.”

“I’ll go have a look, be prepared for a fight in case they see me.”

Nairmar stealthily makes his way to the camp bow drawn.

Cyrus nods to Hrothgar and Cutter, and draws his sword. “We’ll watch your back and stay out of sight. Choke, stay here with Brute. Anyone else want to get dirty? Come with me.”

“So you plan on fighting? Great. Good plan. I’m betting you just want to use the Nutcracker.”

To everyone but Cutter: “Let’s not put him in charge of anything.”

To Cutter: “Hey, relax. I’m sure you have many great skills. Just not this.”

:Sohan smiles at Cutter:

*Cutter kiss kisses in Sohanux’s direction before crouching low and moving forward with sword in hand and taking a knee beside a rock outcropping, peering around it at Naimar’s advance.

Choke leads the animals back in the direction they came.*

Feel free to continue planning among yourselves. I’ll take strategy from all the players now. Be as detailed or as vague as you’d like. Telling me what you intend to do in all potential eventualities would be wise. Keep in mind that it’s dark: So far Naimar is the only one who’s been able to see the target group in any detail. Using ranged weapons once the battle is underway wouldn’t be very smart. Again, feel free to continue planning among yourselves.

Example:

Cutter currently has his short sword equipped. He’s going to stay in his position behind cover and wait for word. If Naimar is spotted and the targets attack he’s going to immediately charge downhill to engage them, not really bothering to prioritize targets and simply attacking whoever’s closest. If he encounters a target wearing medium or heavy armor he’ll throw aside his sword and switch to “the Nutcracker.”

Naimar sneaks up to the camp and see whats going on.

Sohan prepares her bow, but does not pull the arrow back. Has one notched, but not drawn. I’m willing to go with anyone who investigates, but only if the Lords agree. Oh, and if I am to go, I will drink a bit of the beer(I assume we have it) before we head out.

Well, I did say to be as vague as you’d like. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fine. I won’t investigate, but I will prepare my bow.

Unless I’m ordered otherwise.

Haha, I was just teasing you two. In general the more detail the better. And again (hint hint) feel free to plan.

If it’s them and Naimar is spotted he will yell “Attack” if it’s not them “Stand Down” and if Naimar isn’t noticed then he will head back to the group and explain whats going on.

“Really? We are going to let the peasant investigate? I would much rather do this myself.”

Walter slinks off into the night, forty paces behind Naimar, bow slung but not drawn. He’ll let intervene only if Naimar is in danger of being killed, but will let the peasant get captured without interference.

To Hrothgar: “Shoot the closest bandit if Naimar is spotted, and I’ll try to get to Naimar before the bandits do.”

Cyrus will watch Naimar closely, and run to defend him if he’s spotted and attacked.

If battle starts, and at any time Naimar is not actively being attacked by any opponent, Cyrus will attack the closest wounded bandit and attempt to kill him or knock him unconscious. Cyrus will not kill or severely injure the last living bandit.

To the group: “If they decide to fight, leave at least one alive, for interrogation.”
