I’m having this problem. I probably won’t start for another 24 hours, so hopefully you can get a good image set up sometime soon. It’s not a big deal because I’m only involved by accident so far.
TriPolar - I’ve attached the photo in a second e-mail; I’m hoping that’ll solve the problem for you.
Thank you. I responded through email as well.
My email was also hacked and an imposter has written and submitted a 2000 word short story. All I know about the person is that he is quite handsome.
Hmm. The impostor has done a good job copying your style - I’d claim authorship and cheat him out of his advance if I were you.
I’ve started the Anthology Thread at this link.
I mis-calculated the start of the poll - I said 10 PM EDT, but I’m taking my daughter to ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ that evening. I’ll start the poll when we’re back, which shouldn’t be that much later.
I will slowly add stories to the Anthology Thread over the next few days. In the meantime, may I humbly ask that we save any commentary until the poll is done - that way, the first few posts are just the stories. (All editors are control freaks, even the amateur ones. )
I received the e-mail with the words and picture link, but I am starting to doubt if I will be able to produce anything by my deadline–I simply do not have the time. I was hoping to this weekend, but today (Saturday) turned out to be full of errands, and tomorrow is spoken for. So I may not be able to contribute a story.
But I am looking forward to reading the stories, and voting and commenting. Good luck to all!
And a new story from maggenpye, to make it a lucky 13 - excellent work! (Yes, the second version arrived before the deadline.)
There are still 34 hours before the contest closes - heck, I’ve written term papers in less time than that!
Just sent mine in.
Let me know if you get it OK.
Thanks again so much for doing this Le Ministre de l’au-delà, your efforts are truly appreciated!
Reading the anthology thread I’m a bit surprised how many people went in such a different direction than I did. It’s always fascinating to see how the same three words and picture send us spinning off in so many places I’m sure we’re also influenced by ideas kicking around the back of our minds too, though. I certainly was.
I got all paranoid about having included the three words (I had) and found a double handful of spelling mistakes. I doubt I got all of them and they will leap out at me whenever I look at the posted story.
But I got some of the buggers.
Hurrah!
It’s great, isn’t it? I’ve got to read through all these again when I’m not so tired.
And the cake got made, and eaten and the weekend was a good one all round.
No, as of this post, I haven’t got it yet. I just sent you an e-mail to check…
Elfkin477 - I did get yours! Well done!
Hmm…odd.
OK - I sent it again as an attachment to you.
I also PM’d you and cut and paste - note that it took 2 messages to email it, as it was too long for the first alone.
Let me know if you got it this time around.
I am supposed to just respond to your automatic email, right?
Odd, indeed - you’re the second person this round whose messages I had trouble getting. Yes, in an ideal world, hitting ‘reply’ to the out-of-office message is supposed to work. Clearly, I need to call the hamster whisperer…
However, all’s well that ends well - I have both the e-mail and the PM copy. Good on you!
Time has run out on me again. I managed to imagine a story late last night, but was too tired to follow through with the writing. I do hope time and opportunity align again some day. Good luck to all entrants!
