Everyday I go in and cast my daily vote. Of course this week the board has been down so I couldn’t get to the vote page listed under Opalcat’s thread for voting. This evening I was able to get back in because our wonderful board is back up. I usually check just about every topic to see the standings just for fun, even though I don’t vote on every one of them. What a shame. It’s evident that vote padding is going on. One topic had a nominee go from 106 votes to 297 in just the few days the board was down. More than the whole month of February almost. I think about all the hard work that Opalcat did collecting the categories and setting up the page. What a waste. Needless to say even though the month is almost over I won’t bother to vote any more. What’s the use? It’s not even a true vote any more.

Actually, that makes perfect sense. People couldn’t get to the board, so they went to Opal’s and voted. And, since you can only vote for yourself once a day, what type of padding do you think is going on?

Opal, I think you can read ultress’ post to somehow be saying that your board was down, but I think she meant that this board was down and she was getting to your voting area via a link you’d posted here that takes one to your board.
I only know how to get to the voting page from the thread in MPSIMS. I don’t have another link. A fellow doper explained to me after I had already posted this thread that you can go into the vote page as many times a day as you want as long as you completely close the page after you vote and then go back in again. I guess that’s how it’s been done. I thought that you you were only supposed to vote once a day unless I have misunderstood the rules of the game. I wouldn’t have noticed if it weren’t such fun to see the counts everyday. Maybe I should not have said anything. It’s still fun and anyone can look and tell what looks real and what doesn’t.

Um…there are over 4000 people registered on this board. It’s not totally out of the realm of possibility for 200 different people to cast votes for a single nominee, especially since the board was down, so manny posters had free time on their hands. I don’t check all the categories every day, but even considering that it may only be a small percentage voting daily…there was a large number of people with free time on their hands that they would normally have spent reading/posting at SDMB. Why is it inconceivable that they spent some time at the TMHP, including the voting pages? I know that use of the SD chat, the TM other message board and mfsd were up also. And possibly afca (but I didn’t go there).
