Welcome to the Feb weight loss thread. Good luck losing!
Hmmmm. Took ya long enough!
This is from January’s thread. Here’s what I think: Add some stuff to what you’re already eating. Add a banana to your bran flakes; a banana is, what? Two points? (I’m working from distant memory, here). Add a lean ham sandwich on whole grain bread, with a slice of cheese, to your afternoon soup. That’s maybe another five points. Have a cup of yogurt mid-afternoon, approx. two points. Have some low-fat ice cream as a bedtime snack. That should get you up to about 25 points a day, and it’s all relatively healthy stuff.
Good luck!
All good stuff - thanks norinew. I do usually have some fruit during the day so that’s another 2/3 points, and you’re right that a ham sandwich (or two) is another 6 or so. I hadn’t thought about low fat ice cream, looking through my guide there are some quite reasonable ones available so I might get some on the way home. I guess, on the whole, I’d rather be in the situation of wanting to find things to push my points up rather than struggling to keep within my points allowance every day.
I joined Weight Watchers a week ago. So far, not bad. I am also finding it difficult to eat all my points in a day - but as long as I know I’m getting a good variety of stuff, I’m not that worried about it.
I set a 10 pound goal for myself in January, starting at 237.6. Well - yesterday I found myself weighing only 227.6 pounds! I’m back up to 228 today, but goshdarnit - I lost 10 pounds in a month!
February’s goal will be a little more realistic - let’s just say four pounds to try and avoid disappointment.
I got into a bellydance class that I had been waitlisted for, so there’s some more exercise for me. Not that I feel I need it today, after shoveling eight inches of snow out of my driveway (pant pant). That’ll bring my weekly activity points up to five points twice a week for shinkendo/bojutsu, and another three for bellydancing. I’m losing much better this time around on Core… probably a combination of this regular exercise, and not being at home with access to my kitchen all day.
I have started taking the stairs at work. I work on the 14th floor. I know it is good for me but DANG do I show up out of breath and have to stand in the hallway and wheeze for a bit before I go into the office.
I’m new to this thread but hope to glean some tips. I’m exercising more but need to stop eating sweets. (As I’m typing this there’s a big box of assorted baklava on the desk next to me. I ate so many of them that I feel ill, but that probably won’t stop me nibbling on more.)
I’m also new to the threads though I have been reading them. I lost 15 pounds in January, and weight loss/fitness is my major focus right now, so I thought I’d pop my head in.
Welcome to the club **fluiddruid **and Blue Mood good luck losing!

Timely!
Today I just started my weight loss journey. I’m low-carbing to get started, then moving to a more moderate plan once I get my initial loss. I’m also going to get moving and excercise every day.
I’m 6’1" and my target weight is about 180, but I don’t want to get into the weighing so much, more of a belt notch thing.
So, let the de-schlubification begin!
My husband and I are officially members of a fitness club as of today. It’s a brand new center with really nice equipment and we’re both really excited about it. Now if I can just get my husband to walk on the treadmill faster than 2 mph and for more than 10 minutes, we’ll be doing great. I’m most looking forward to using the elliptical and weight machines.
I haven’t worked out at all this week yet, sadly. I started the week with an evening meeting and then the rest of the week I’ve felt so crappy with a cold I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. A few days off won’t kill me, of course, but I’m itching to get back into the groove today since I’m feeling much better!
Welcome to our newest members!
Still working to lose a few lbs I gained over a brutal combo of Christmas holiday at mom’s house in Texas + 1 week work trip to Vegas. I started at 132.5 and as of Wednesday I was back down to 130. 2 lbs to go!
As an added note, next week will be my 3 year anniversary of reaching my maintenance weight. I have lost 70+ lbs and kept it off for 3 years. After 20 years of failed diets and yoyoing and always always always regaining weight, it is still a miracle, everyday.
I fully understand that miracle thing, Glory. Though I’m still in the process of losing all of my weight, the novelty of seeing myself in the mirror with prominent collar bones and a not-so-prominent butt just keeps me amazed that it’s been possible to get so far. Hearing that folks like you have managed to keep the weight off gives me a lot of hope that I can do the same thing too.
fluiddruid, 15 pounds, that’s impressive. Well done!
Gingy’s going cruising! Oh how fun! Wish I could go too.
Well, I’d hoped to be in the 130’s by now but no such luck. I’ve managed to maintain and that’s about it. Hopefully the end of this month will tell a different (and better!) story.
Weighed myself today and I’ve lost 3lb bringing me down to 175, so that’s a total of 13lb in one month - nearly a stone! Not bad eh? So that’s (practically) one down, two and a half to go. Looks like I’m track to hit my goal by the start of June as planned.
I lost 18 pounds in January, and was quite surprised. Perhaps a lot of it was water loss or something. I started January 2.
My goal for February is to lose ten pounds. I’m keeping on my same low caloried regimen, and will start exercising more often. Before this I’ve been going to my karate class twice a week, but I want to add walking or swimming, something like that.
228½, down 3½ from last week and 15 from the start of the year. Landmarks are coming thick and fast at the moment, last week it was 4 stone (56lb) since the start of the diet and now it’s into the 220s. I’m quite pleased with this week’s effort as it was the first week of the new routine and, what with one thing and another, has meant two trips to Burger King and two to McDonald’s – also a chilly day or two midweek cut into my regular exercise, though I’ve made up for some of that today.
Baker, I swear by walking. It’s had a big impact on me since I started in October. Don’t expect to lose 18lb every month though!.
Putting more walking into my regime has definitely helped me too - it’s easy and free, I don’t know why more people don’t do it.
I really need to get motivated to take that morning walk again. Maybe if I stop staying up so late I’ll feel more like getting out of bed at a more reasonable hour.
I weighed in today and went from 262 last week to 257 this week. Woot!
I think taking the stairs at work had a lot to do with the 5 lb loss this week. That and the fact that I was retaining water and so I didn’t lose a pound last week.
