SDMB Weight Loss Thread: August Edition

Excellent job, Kat! I know for awhile there you weren’t doing too well.

Hi All! I have re-commited to my weight loss efforts! I have also joined SparkPeople, (just this morning) as reccommended by this board so thank you! It looks like a really cool site!

I have been very bad in not watching my calories, and putting in my meal plan for today was quite a wake up call! Only 1600 calories? I am going to starve!

Wile E., I do both the treadmill and Zumba and I found that different shoes are needed for each activity. I’ve always liked Asics for “activity” shoes (like aerobics) and I wear ballet slippers for Zumba which probably aren’t supportive enough for you. Look into jazz shoes, or some other “dancing” shoes for Zumba. Or maybe Reeboks, which if I remember don’t have grippy soles. And check Kohl’s–they always have athletic shoes on sale.

My user name is the same there as it is here…friend me if you like, once you have a SparkPage set up!

Weighed myself Tuesday. Not what I wanted to see but that’s what I get for not following my food plan. Stuck with the food plan starting that night and weighed myself yesterday (Friday). Down almost 2 pounds. Can that be possible? Same scale, same time of day. If it’s true, I’ll be following my food plan forevah! (basically the old WW exchange program).

Ooh, I’ve been using Sparkpeople, too! I love it, keeping track of my nutrition has been an epiphany.

Down 33 pounds since April! I’d like to lose about 50 more. And the cool part is that I know I can.

Who are you over there? I’ll friend you if you like.

Well, okay, I’m finally giving in. I just joined Sparkpeople.

Unfortunately, they have a minimum username length of 6 characters, so I can’t be me there. So I’m Jelaza there (which will make twickster happy :D).

Awesome! Same name… but I might have to enable friends. Let me check.
Hmm, I have no idea how to search for other users or anything.

Do you have a SparkPage set up? I can’t find you on SparkPeople. (Same to you, Kat.)

To search for other users, go to Community–SparkPages, then you can search in the box on the left hand side.

I do now.

Is there an SDMB SparkTeam?

I friended you, Kat. And I do not believe there is a SDMB SparkPage.

197, back up 4, but since I was at a wedding reception yesterday I’m expecting some of that to be temporary weight, as on the last few times when there’s been food and drink about the place - 'cos it’s for sure I haven’t overeaten to the tune of 12,800 calories.

Big challenge coming up with a fortnight’s holiday in France starting next weekend that will see me away from the scales and with a few more temptations than usual. I’ll just have to try to take steps that will see things not looking too bad by the 31st. No sitting out watching the sunset with a bottle of wine and a big bag of munchies this year, I think.

All right, plateau scare is over.

I spent most of July fluctuating between 213-216 pounds, but Friday I weighed in at 211.2 - which broke my 10% goal for WW. Yesterday on a whim I stepped on the scale to the tune of 210, which is a total of 40 pounds lost since I started losing.

I bought several blouses at Lane Bryant the other day, and three of the four of them are now in the smallest size that Lane Bryant even sells. I got a lot of positive comments on my outfit today.

Amazing how the pounds seem to melt off so much quicker when I’m not doing my vacation-cheating-on-points routine…

A blog site that I’m on has a challenge with a cash prize going to whoever can go the longest streak of exercising at least 20 minutes a day, only allowing one missed day a week. It’s been going on since the 1st, and last week instead of doing my usual hour of exercise 3-4 times, I went six days in a row. Money is a powerful motivator! The scale is showing it.

I was out of town all last week and just got back late on monday. Weighed in at 168.2 this morning. I was afraid I was going to gain after vacation but holding steady works for me!

I totally forgot about the weight loss thread this month! I have been so busy I hadn’t even thought about weighing myself in the last 2 weeks, but fear not! I have weighed myself this morning and came in at 244! This puts me at at total of 59 lbs lost, 3 lbs down from the end of July. From here on out I think I will request to be referred to as The Incredible Shrinking pbbth!

How about pbth? Congrats!

Today’s Official Weigh In Result: 177.6 pounds, a loss of 1.4 pounds since last week.

So I have lost about 4 pounds since I started. I have a scale at work, a scale at the gym and a scale at home. My home scale always weighs me the lowest, the scale at work weighs me the highest so I take it with a grain of salt and go by the home scale. But I had a smile on my face when the work scale finally weighed me below 130, which confirmed to me that I’ve lost at least 4 pounds.

I noticed that my fat pants, the largest size pants I have which were starting to get a little tight around the waist, are looser. I can put things in my pockets and they fall to the bottom of the pocket. I’m tempted to search out a pair of pants in the next size down hiding somewhere in the back of my closet and see if I can fit in those.

I can visibly see that my belly is not as big. I’ve been able to add more cardio to my workouts. I feel so much better. I got an MP3 player and I will put it on at work when I’m there alone doing my extra duties and I will bounce or dance along to the music.
