My sincere condolences…it really feels like someone I knew has passed away, a member of my community. I’ve only interacted with him a few times, but he did make me laugh often. I just did a search on his threads.

Sorry TheLadyLion :(. Padeye was one of those “old-timers” who definitely stood out as a contributor to the community.

I never spoke with Padeye, but I always enjoyed his posts and agreed with him on many issues. He will be missed.

**, I am so very touched by the outpouring of support and good wishes from everyone on this board. I talked by phone with Mauvaisejust a little while ago and she told me that the post had been made a sticky and the responses now took up 2 pages. I can’t tell you all how much that touched my heart. My Steve loved coming to the SDMB almost every day, and so many of all of you have touched his life as well. You made him laugh, made him think, made him mad, and inspired him to post his 2 cents every time. But he loved each and every one of you. He also met some very fine people on the SD, and he loved telling me about the “DopeFest” in LA where all of the Dopers just about got arrested. (Yes, you all know who you are!) He introduced me to the SD when we were dating. Although I will never be as prolific a poster as he has been, I thoroughly enjoy being a member too.
The memorial service is Saturday, 1/21/06 at 4:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 801 E. Camelback Rd., Phoenix, AZ. There will be an informal coffee-cookies-punch reception in the parish hall afterward, then everyone who wants can join us at our friend’s home (address and directions there are in the service bulletin).

I am so sorry for your loss. I know I can only feel a small fraction of the sadness you are feeling right now, as I’d never really talked to him through the boards, but I hope you find some comfort knowing there are many others on the board who share your sadness. You’re not alone.
