There’s some new “pick your prize” commercial crap on TV right now. Is it for McDonalds? I don’t even remember. Anyway, there are three prizes to be won, and in this commercial, each of the prizes is talking, trying to convince the winner why he should pick each of them.
The Snowmobile has a Canadian “oot”/“eh?” accent. Makes sense, lotsa snow in Canada.
The Sea-Doo speaks like a pirate. Makes sense (I suppose), you can take it out in the ocean. More annoying than the first, but nothing to get too worked up about.
The 4-Wheeler/ATV has a FRENCH accent. It’s really annoying, and I can’t see any sense in it.
WHY IS THIS?
mouthbreather, not pissed enough to take this to the pit.
I KNEW there was something I saw this weekend that I wanted to address… and that is it. I couldn’t remember, though.
It is for McDonalds. Marketeers think everybody loves the French accent for some reason.
Look how they use it to market that ROC body cream shit.
I hate!!! that commercial because of the guy’s thick-get-the-shit-out-your-mouth French accent. Do they think that accent makes me wanna buy the product? “Oh, it must be genuine… the guy has a French accent, for God’s sake.”
Sorry for the rant. The French accent is the default accent for talking ATV’s the world over.
Everybody knows the French love their ATV’s, right?
I was under the impression that the “French ATV” was included to add the necessary “snootiness” or blatantly egocentric attitude that could only be expressed by something(somebody) French. I think he was supposed to represent Napeoleon, or some kind of expert race car driver from Monte Carlo.
Even funnier was the woman who is shown sitting in front of a backlit map of the world and stands up with her arms raised in the air to the phrase to the effect of “You now RULE THE WORLD” just because she won a HP home computer. Sheesh.
My problem with the commercial is the alleged pirate. Listen to his voice. It sounds like he has a Col. Sanders southern accent. The first time I heard the commercial I didn’t realize he was supposed to be a pirate until he threw in the pirate phrase at the end. McD’s needs to hire better voice talent.
[sub]Okay, so the correction hardly merits a post, but how am I ever gonna achieve the lofty heights of a quadruple-digit post count if I don’t take the opportunity?[/sub]
