"Search in child forums"

On the advanced search page, this option appears. What does it mean?

For the first few years, I thought it meant there was a separate SDMB for children, but I finally figured out, that wasn’t likely. :smack: What are child forums.

Child forums are sub-forums underneath a main forum; like having child forums for multiple different cities under a Local City main header forum. We don’t have them here.

We do, actually, but only in the mod forums.

If we did it more broadly here, we might do something like having Cafe Society as a “main” forum, with “Game Room” and “Thread Games” as child forums, or Elections as a child forum of Great Debates. But as it is, we decided it would be easier to create these as entirely separate forums.

So…no forums for preschoolers? Dang.
