what would make the OP wrong would be someone to show that the quotes in the first 5 posts of Giraffe’s OP are qualitatively the same as the 6th thread he referrred to.
He pretty much already said that is not the case.
But if you want to post the actual offensive quote from the Aussie Free Speech thread, something that is equivalent to not stopping if he woke up getting blown by a 6 year old, which he said in some thread or other, by all means show us that one

Honestly,before your prior post, I never noticed you at all. So I have no clue as to your beliefs.
I am not being intentionally slippery, and you are right, “we” don’t collectively all have to engage in every topic or thread. In fact, we all behave exactly that way already. However, if some of us are interested in a topic, we can discuss it, and others can avoid it. We do it every day here. You will very rarely see m in IMHO or Games, and some folks there I understand rarely venture int GD. To each his or her own.
There is no reason on earth why people who don’t want to participate in a AT Pedophile thread would have to, and I am trying to get an explanation, and not succeeding at it, as to why that topic is so impossible for people who don’t want to participate to stay out of, when those same people already ignore 90% of all threads.

I don’t object to people offering their opinions. I jumped in after the decision was made, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still object. It is a shitty decision for the reasons stated and more.
Now, I am savvy enough in the legal issues of running a web site such as this to wonder if there is not more at play here then meets the eyes, but at the sme time, I have not yet seen in the objections any suggestions whatsoever along those lines, nor did I read into Ed Zotti’s message that they had considered them.
I think they may have considered them, and if so, I wish they were more transparent about it, because then I would me more “C’est la vi” about it. But as it stands, it appears it is mob rule.
I will also note here something I asked the mods several weeks ago and did not get a firm response on, but this episode might be telling and predictive.
I asked if a “Pro-Ana” thread would be allowed in light of the shitstorm that broke out once before when a member with a eating disorder attempted suicide and came here to discuss it.
I find it very parallel to the “AT Pedophile” question - it regards discussion of mental health issues that squick people out big time, and even advocacy of those with the issues by themselves.
Now I wonder if I pull out DSM IV, which topics are too squicky to discuss?

Perhaps it has slipped your mind that I have never asserted otherwise, or that this board is subject to Free Speech laws. You are confusing the “Free Speech” thread with a discussion, an appeal if you will, regarding the appropriateness of the decision, which was made before I even knew of the debate.
