If I do a vanity search by username in order to find threads to which I’ve posted, not all of the threads are showing up in the search results.
Here are two threads I posted to that don’t show up on a search:
(posted) http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=261408
(started) http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=261730
It’s not just Cafe Society threads, because the current Harry Potter thread shows up.
I select Advanced Search, Search All Open Forums, Any Date.
Are these your last two posts? Because, IIRC, the search engine tends to miss posts made in the last 24 hours (or since maintenance, or something like that…) due to some kind of DB indexing happening in the background rather than in Real Time. I’ve seen this happen, too, when I searched the forums (not for my own name, but I doubt that matters).
Maybe a mod could clear this up?
Dani
I’m not sure if they’re my last two posts. I don’t think so. I think I’ve posted to the Harry Potter thread since then, but maybe not.
Well, when I click on your profile and choose “view all posts by this member” or “view all threads started by this member,” both of those threads you’ve mentioned show up (didn’t check the HP one).
This happens to me too. It seems that all you have to is change something about your search and it will update. For example, just tick “Search Children’s Forums” and your most recent posts will come up. It’s as if your search gets cached and you just need to change something to get the search re-run.
That seemed to work. Thanks, Princhester.
