a recent thread mentioned a Japanese piece of artwork called He-gassen, in which people were depicted farting toward other people. Despite its scatological nature, it’s understood to have been some sort of commentary on the issues of the time.
It reminded me of a political cartoon I once saw, and I wonder if anyone here can track this down. Like He-gassen, it appeared to have been drawn 100-200 years ago, and it was a map of Europe that depicted the British isles as a man defecating violenty toward France. IIRC, the feces he expelled appeared to actually be a fleet of ships.
Anyone know where to find this cartoon, and what its significance was?
