Maybe I am missing the obvious, but is there a way in Wikipedia to find all articles that mention some given search term? Of course, too general a search term would yield a ridiculous number of hits. Yet, for specific search terms, the number of results shouldn’t be too ridiculous.
The problem with wikipedia is how easily you can lose your way jumping (by hyperlink) from article to related article. So, I know for certain there is an article out there about the topic I seek. Yet, it is not the article written about this search word as the main entry…it is a spin off. How might I find such related articles?
If Wikipedia’s built-in search function isn’t helping you, try using Google, but locking it to results from only the Wikipedia language site you want. For example, a Google search for:
wombat site:en.wikipedia.org
will return every English-language Wikipedia page that mentions the word “wombat.”
First, hit the magnifying glass on the search bar without filling out the form. It will take you to a new page with a search bar that now has a button with “search” on it. Type whatever you want into that bar and it will reveal all instances of a specific term on Wikipedia.
