Secaucus NJ train station

I’m driving out to New York this summer, and thought it would be best to stay in Secaucus and take the train in daily. Does anyone know the address of Secaucus Junction station (or the cross streets)? I’d like to stay at a hotel near the station, and can’t find the address online.

And if anyone has a better idea for visiting NY without driving into the city, feel free to post. Thx:-)

Any particular reason why you picked Secaucus? There’s lots of other, better cities on the periphery of New York that have train stations.

Anywho, Secaucus Junction is located at the confusingly designated intersection of County Avenue and County Road. Map.

As I understand it (and I don’t know Secaucus geography too well), the Secaucus Junction train station is approximately in the middle of nowhere.

They put it there because it was where the two train lines it serves intersect. (It was built a few years ago so passengers on the train lines that terminate in Hoboken, NJ and the train lines that terminate at Penn Station, NYC could change to the other lines.) It’s just off the Turnpike, but I believe it is nowhere near other development.

From Secacus, you may be better served by taking a bus into the City.

Find a Hotel near the **Hoboken ** Path Train and Ferry station if you want to try this trick. Hoboken has it’s own charm and it is one of the quickest way into NYC.

The bonus is that on nice days you can take the ferry. There is something special about approaching the Southern Tip of Manhattan by boat. I strongly recommend it.

As mentioned, Secaucus Junction is in the middle of nothing and has the special added 15x exit of the Turnpike.

If you cannot find a hotel near the Hoboken station, try **Jersey City ** next. It is not as nice, but again a very short train ride.

There is no public parking at the Secaucus junction. New Jersey Transit considers this to have been a mistake, and is looking to construct a parking deck at the location. It won’t be easy to find a hotel near it.

Thx What Exit?, I’ll look for lodging in Hoboken; the ferry sound wonderful.

You are correct, sir! (As always.)

What Exit makes a good suggestion. If I recall correctly, there are some hotels that are within a short distance of the Hoboken PATH that are actually located in Jersey City.
