My old train line from back in the day. One thing I have decided in life is never sit in the first car of a train.
Yeesh. Nothing at that URL but an auto-run video in a huge playlist of auto-run videos. If I wanted to watch TV, I’d have found a TV.
Alternate reporting which actually uses words. (Also has video for the reading-impaired, but not self-starting, so can be properly ignored.)
The OP had more useful information than that website!
Not only that, the “video” of the crash was a still picture.
Funny thing is that the CBC news is reporting that Hoboken (which they accent on the second syllable) is more than 10 km from NYC. WTF? It’s right there across the Hudson, maybe a mile away. I’ve been there many times (but by PATH so maybe the NJT station is not that close).
Hoboken?! Oooh I’m dyin’!
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
That was their findings on the 2011 crash. Since the PATH still doesn’t have positive train control I assume the NTSB report will look pretty similar. Maybe now they’ll take the cue from SEPTA and speed up the Dec 2018 deadline before more people die pointlessly.
How large an area is Hoboken? Plenty of municipalities are more than 10km across.
Worst tribute to Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder ever.
Per Wikipedia, about 1.275 square miles.
They’re probably using JFK airport or Laguardia as a proxy for NYC. You’re right though. I can see Hoboken from my office. [/Sarah Palin]
ETA: And Hoboken is tiny.
Wife says the same thing. Which makes me want to ask about it in GQ…
On my top 50 or 100 movies I like! :dubious:
Or they could hire babysitters to make sure the engineer is awake. A lot of train buffs would take that job for free. This is a problem in search of some common sense.
I used to commute that route (just not on the Pascack Line).
Looking at the pix, I originally thought it was Track 3.
I was wrong; it was Track 5…
It is referred to as the Mile Square City, since it is pretty close to 1 mile by 1 mile square. It is also my former home town.
