Secret Border Patrol Facebook Page

I think the post I provided in post #55 arguable shows that that what they are saying on their Facebook page encourages the behavior shown to both the political prisoners they are supposed to be watching over and the the people sent to investigate the situation.

I mean, if you’re poor, don’t have much in the way of diplomas or work experience ; prison guard is A job you can take that more or less guarantees employment - the pay is bullshit and they’re perennially understaffed because no one wants to be a fucking prison guard so they’ll just take in anyone with a pulse. I won’t necessarily begrudge that choice on its face - it’s very much a desperation job.

Or in the case of fascists a dream job, of course.

Secret Border Patrol Facebook Page

Some nasty screen shots are available in the link I provided in the OP.

I read it the first time, and I have not forgotten what was said (at least the general outlines if not verbatim). I don’t approve of what they said, and I don’t “support” them in saying it beyond the generic First Amendment right I support everyone having to say things that I personally disagree with. Aside from that, I’ve primarily been noting the futility of calling for their mass firing because of the very protections the Left has spent decades building up around the federal workforce.

Updated report concerning the Border patrol head’s reaction…and The Prez making the worst possible statement concerning this situation:

Way to enable, you asshole.

I belong to a secret Facebook group and have for many years. There are 30 of us. Many of us have been in abusive marriages and have exes who are still causing issues. The ability to come to the group for advice and perspective has been a godsend for all of us. Just belonging to such a group is not something you want to be made public, as it could cause issues–hence the “secret.” And unlike private groups, where you have to join to post, our posts are not visible to the public. You don’t want the public to know your ex is stalking you again, or that your grown kid is getting abused by her boyfriend.

Secret groups are governed by the same Facebook community standards as public and private groups and individual members are. How closely Facebook monitors these groups, I can’t say. I know if I were involved in a group where members made racist and/or obscene comments, I’d alert Facebook and quit the group. There’s no excuse for that behavior. None.

Democrats?:dubious: Chester A. Arthur was a republican. Of course, that was in 1883, when the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act and the two parties arent the same.

It’s quite a leap to suggest that firing a public servant who is quite obviously failing to act impartially and in the public interest is in the same league as a private citizen who’s sharing a video of a well-documented violent incident.

It’s not just enabling, it’s signaling. He’s weaponizing law enforcement with very broad authority to play God with the lives of vulnerable migrants. He’s suggesting that it’s perfectly fine with him if civil servants use the color of law to abuse human rights because ‘they ain’t our people.’ I expect this from Trump, but I’m fucking disgusted with anyone who can’t see how harmful this is to society as a whole and how it engenders the worst impulses of those who have authoritarian tendencies.

I read it. Oddly, it never mentions how many of those 9500 members were confirmed as Border patrol agents or how many of those made the horrible comments.

Maybe they were made by non Border agents, maybe trolls, maybe even Russian trolls.

It is quite possible all the nastier comments were made by a small handful of posters. Some of whom may be ex-employees.

I was in a group MB supposedly for ex CM of DL. The trolls had totally taken over. The worst troll, the one spouting the most horrible Guest things, was outed as a ex-CM who had been fired like 30 days into her job. Another one was found to have never been a CM at all. And of those remaining, there were really only 6 trolls, all but one were previous CM with short term employment.

So, yes, that FB page is nasty. But we have few facts.

No, it’s not a demonstration of anything that a few people out there are hateful assholes, which i hope we already knew.

Cm? Dl?

We dont know that. We dont know how many current agents actually made such comments. Maybe the worst trolls were fired during their one year probationary period. Those tend to be the worst haters.

However, there is this: “These posts are completely inappropriate and contrary to the honor and integrity I see — and expect — from our agents day in and day out,” Border Patrol chief Carla Provost said. “Any employees found to have violated our standards of conduct will be held accountable.”

Translation : “I’ve been to a concentration camp for kids torn from their parents, and the inmates didn’t ostensibly seem to like me very much. I am baffled, flabbergasted, astonished, bewildered and perplexed by this development.”

I am certain that the individuals in this Secret Facebook group do not represent the majority of of law enforcement personnel.

I am equally certain that anyone who believes that anything placed on the internet is secret might want to choose a career in a different field. Preferably not related to public safety.

Meaningless twaddle meant to pacify unless they actively look for the offenders.

And this from her boss:
“So the Border Patrol, they’re patriots, they’re great people. They love our country. They know who’s coming in,” said Trump

Fuck, can that dude form a thought more complex than something you’d find in “Fun with Dick and Jane?”

Jane said “Look, look, I see the Border Patrol. Watch them go.”

Dick said “They are patriots. They are great people.”
