Hey, let’s see you cope with stairs that have treads only 1/3 as wide as your feet.

Not to say the ED-209 didn’t make a valiant effort (even if it DID throw a tantrum when it failed).

…I’m faulting the engineers who, knowing what the robot would have to contend with, didn’t give it a locomotion system suited to its mission.
And that goes for the real-life geniuses who gave us the K5, as well.

A *human *guard isn’t just going to shoot people down for being in the wrong hallway. A robot guard probably isn’t even programmed for things like the legal definition of murder, or any kind of liability issues.
