Seed from 2000 year old extinct palm sprouts

I hesitate to step on Tuckerfan’s toes here, since this type of story is generally his domain but this was too cool not to share.

Not only a 2000 year old seed, but from an extinct species highly praised in ancient times. Now all we need is to find a seed for Silphium and grow it. :>

I wonder if that means that the plant that I just killed will eventually come back to life.

I’ve heard of Magnolia seeds of similar age being uncovered by archaeologists and subsequently germinated; still, this is very interesting - I had no idea palm seeds could retain viability that long.
