For all the wonderful music they recorded in the '60s, it seems to me The Seekers are a vastly underappreciated group today. In the history of recording, there have been few performers as versatile as they, nor have there been many voices as clear and beautiful (and powerful!) as Judith Durham’s.
Here’s a video of their farewell concert on the BBC in 1968. Even if you don’t listen to the whole thing, you can get a feel for their tremendous energy and variety by just skipping through it.
It’s my understanding that many watchers were in tears as the concert drew to a close, as I probably would have been.
Well? Does anyone else out there share my appreciation?
