This has been bugging me for days. I’m trying to find a movie where Phil Silvers played a restaurant owner, possibly a pizza parlor, and he verbally abuses a young man of Oceanic descent, calling him a “pineapple head.”
It’s in Silvers’ oeuvre, ala Sgt. Bilko, playing an unlikable and coarse character. In my mind, this movie is from late 70s or early 80s, maybe a teen comedy. Both IMDb and Wikipedia have been no help.
Are you sure it was Phil Silvers and not the Dalai Lama?
Maybe it’s the episode “Bilko’s Chinese Restaurant” from The Phil Silvers Show?
Bilko unveils plans to open his own Chinese restaurant. Noticing the huge quantities of Chinese ingredients being ordered by Sgt.Ritzik the Pentagon decide to send Bilko and his platoon to the island of Macoochi.

I haven’t seen this, but Mr. Silvers plays the owner of a fastfood restaurant. One of his employees looks “Oceanic” (I think the actor is actually Native American).
That’s the ticket. The script shows someone (probably Phil) calling somebody “Pineapple”.

That’s it! Thanks @Dropo!
Steve Guttenberg. I wonder whoever made that guy a star.
But he was so good in The Boys from Brazil!
We do, we do!
I remember going to see it on a whim and really liking it. No idea how it would stand up today.
The Dope comes through again in less than one hour. We be awesome, but @Dropo is especially awesome.
Agreed. The Dope has a tremendous record of answering queries like this. @Dropo continues the legacy.
