I’ll be in Miami for two days next week due to business with Homeland Security; and I have time to kill. Short of looking for the best Cuban sandwich in Calle Ocho, I want to get some ink done. Any Dopers or Miami regulars have recommendations?
Pick up a copy of the New Times, the free “cool” community newspaper in Miami. There are all kinds of tattoo parlor ads in it, and typically the places with the bigger ads are pretty reliable. I think the New Times also votes for a “Best Tattoo Parlor” in their annual Best of Miami Awards, so that will be one way to narrow down the selections.
As for best Cuban sandwich, most locals love the Versailles restaurant for Cuban food. I’ve never been there and don’t know exactly where it is, but it is legendary. My favorite in Miami is La Carreta, which has several locations around the city.
Hey, don’t forget about “Miami Ink”! 
(for those that don’t know, there is a new reality show on TLC that features a South Beach tattoo parlor). These are some really good artists, but I figure they’re probably priced accordingly
