Seinfeld question: "Hellooo" and the Talking Stomach?

I’ve seen the episode when Jerry is dating the woman they make fun of by saying “Hellooo” in the dumb booming voice. When he explains it, he says that when she falls asleep her stomach, or bellybutton, continues to talk and says “I’m full.”

I don’t get it.

Is it a case of her belly gyrating weirdly so it appears to be talking? Is her stomach rumbling? Is she farting? Does anyone know what’s really going on here?

They said the joke was that when the girlfriend falls asleep, her stomach stays awake and “Hellloooooo…”.

That’s it. Show about nothing, etc…

Sometimes a talking bellybutton is just a talking bellybutton.

“I appear to be covered in oil …”

It was just one of those goofy mental images that Jerry apparantly found especially compelling. Note how George, at first amused by the idea, got sick of it pretty fast.

Heck, there have been lines in movies that reduced me to tears of laughter. Looking back on it later even I wonder if I was taking drugs.

Jerry: “Heloooooo!”

Elaine: annoyed “You’re still doing that?”

La La La La La! The stomach is jovial!

Nothing to get. You’re over-thinking this.

Yeah, I don’t think there was anything abnormal about her stomach, just Jerry amusing himself with his imagination after she fell asleep.

I think it stems from one’s (usually male’s) propensity to find a joke that he alone finds funny and then proceeds to run said joke into the ground despite the perturbation of those with whom he keeps company.

I have several in my repertoire much to the dismay of my long-suffering significant other.

As much as it definitely is a show about nothing, there really is a reason he was doing the voice… after they fell asleep her stomach would “stay awake”, or growl and rumble in the middle of the night. So the “yes” answer would go to your second question.

Ah, it’s a 1920’s style death ray.

Her stomach “talks” to him in the middle of the night, and his imagination morphs that into a stereotypical jolly fat guy.

I personally thought the gag didn’t go on long enough, it should have spanned episodes.
