When the last episode of a Seinfeld season aired, did any have a meaningful cliffhanger, and did any season premiere introduce/resolve any major plot points?
I’m pretty sure one season ended with Jerry proposing to Janeane Garofalo’s character…and then “I can’t marry her. She’s just like me - and I hate myself!” the next season.
Yeah, isn’t that tied to George’s engagement?
And didn’t a season end with the Summer of George?
Right - didn’t the Summer of George end up with him in the hospital and possibly paralyzed from slipping on a party invitation and falling down the stairs? And I think that was exactly one year after Susan died from licking the cheap wedding invitations.
They never did any real cliffhangers that I can remember, but there was the season that ended with Kramer going out to California to pursue an acting career after Jerry took his spare keys away from him. That led the next season into a storyline about Kramer being suspected of murder.
There was also the season that ended with Russel Dalrymple, the president of NBC, dying on a Greenpeace mission in a failed attempt to impress Elaine.
What’s weird is that the two parter that resolved the Kramer situation wasn’t really a part of the next season proper, they aired in the summer between seasons. Now they include them with the next season just because well, gotta stick them somewhere.
