(No amount of google-fu’ing was successful on this, despite my recollections that there was a similar thread, that I was gonna de-zombify to post this):
I heard Fastball’s “The Way” maybe twice over its twenty year span, like in a grocery store, and really liking it, and then recently hearing it again (and yes definitely in a grocery store this time).
Still no idea what the song was, I managed to hear the lyric “where were they going without ever knowing the way”, and was able to google the song down from there, and now I’ve been whining about how too catchy it is, in the earworm thread. If only more top 40 could’ve engaged me as impressively like that.
Another example - when I was maybe eight ('72?) - hearing some background music for a segment on Bobby Orr during a Hockey Night in Canada intermission. The number just had me bouncing off the walls, but never heard it again until the early 2,000’s when a friend cleverly came up with an mp3 recording of it after I attempted a weak description. Billy Preston’s Outa Space
(And speaking of songs called “Outa Space” by Billy Preston…what in the good lord is up with this uuuuh, quite different version?)
Anyhoos, any exhumed treasures?
