What’s the correct way to dispose of a SCR. I have a couple the coal mine I worked for gave me a few years back. I really have no use for them now and want them out of my garage. I fear that if I put it out for the garbage man if he goes to compress it, the oxygen tank may explode and harm the truck or injur another person. Would this happen? I think that the pressure in it is at the absolute max around 200lbs, but it may be way lower than that. Anway, thanks for the help and if you need a pic to see what I am talking about, here is one (scroll down a ways and you’ll see some men holding them). www.hellercreative.com/ coal_mine.htm
I don’t know anything about those, but I’d imagine there’s got to be someway to manually release the pressure. How do you ‘turn it on?’ If there’s a valve you can open, it should release any pressure until it’s the same as the outside pressure. Also is there a pressure release valve in case it’s over filled? Would that open up if it’s crushed? The last (more drastic) idea would be to use the method of your choice to release all the pressure and then drill some holes in it, this would prevent it from repressurizing if it does get crushed. OR take it to your local scuba store or even fire station, one of them ought to know how to deal with it.
